Last time I tried to get a BT line (in situ, just disconnected) sorted out it ended up quicker and less hassle to get Virgin to install a brand new cable service.
That is exactly what I ended up having to do after BT didn't bother to turn up to install my line, after weeks of daily messages to make sure I would be at home on the agreed date.

BT are absolutely fking useless , but they have a monopoly round here. I emailed the CEO as someone suggested off here about 18 months ago, and someone from the office did sort my case out. I'm usually a very calm person but I lost it with them, pisses me off thinking about it now! , absolutely terrible service.
a monopoly, really ?

nowhere in mainland UK is in a monopoly situation over telephony services, there are places where Openreach is the only fixed line provider , but BT Retail have not had a monopoly for many years.

but as usual for PH the actual structure of an organisation is immaterial unless it's your own company ...
Perhaps he meant an oligopoly. Either way there are only a small number of buffoons running the fixed lines in the UK which means they get away with poor service time and time again.

This is what happens when they get rid of all the experienced staff so they can employ contractors on worse pay and conditions. Now no-one knows what they're doing.

I worked for them for 19 years, but was so glad to leave.

Last house I was in needed a new BT (physical) line installed. I actually ended up getting it installed by the Post Office (1mth rolling contract as opposed to signing a 12mth contract with BT). They still used OpenReach to do the graft, but the communication process seemed to be better with PO.

Right on que.

BT have let me down again. Everytime I order a new line from these fkards they fk it up.
This time a retail project and they haven't turned up.

Every fking time.
Then when you already have fire coming out of your ears, you can't speak to anyone. When you do, they seem to have so many bloody systems, it's always the one they don't have access too.

Utter bds.
I've moved house four times in the last few years and each and every time BT OpenReach have horsed it up royally. The last time I had no landline and therefore no broadband over the entire Xmas holiday period. Thanks.

That last time was particularly galling as I was only obliged to use those incompetent *****s as I was having Sky installed and Sky subbed the line bit to BT. Sigh.

I took great pleasure of kicking both BT and Sky into the weeds after that particular episode and going with Virgin whose installation process and team as well as subsequent customer service was infinitely superior.

They're here right now doing my installation and have been since 8.30am. The engineer said they've been dreading this job and that's partly why it's taken so long for them to commit 2 engineers to it. Now if this had all been explained from day one, I could have understood and been more patient. Instead, it's been repeated bull**** excuses and chasing my tail.

Fingers crossed I actually end up with a service that works?!

I had a similar problem last year.

Email the CEO, gavin.patterson@bt.com

A very nice lady from his office will contact you and get her resolution team on the case
Thanks for that email because I need to get hold of someone with some common sense, been going around in circles.

My WiFi is useless unless you are in the room with the unit, or directly above it. When it was installed next to a chimney breast I didn't have anything that was wireless and was not informed that by placing it there it would be blocking the signal for future wireless connections. Now kids have phones & tablets we cannot get internet connections unless we are right next to or above the unit.

Called and asked if it could be moved and was told to book and engineer appointment, but when they called back and I said it was working but badly they said it didn't get covered by them if it was actually working and I'd need a new installation. Call the new installation team who tell me you already have our service so how can we install what we have already supplied. Going round in f*cking circles and all I want is to be able to connect to my WiFi and not the neighbours FFS!!

BT are hopeless.
