Hi All,

Sorry to raise this boring topic yet again, but we are in the process of buying a 30's semi which has had a loft conversion and a single story extension at the back, and I want to get it surveyed properly to make sure there aren't any nasty surprises.

How does one go about finding an appropriate surveyor? I'm assuming I need a full structural to cover things like roofs etc. Are they all much of a muchness (assuming they're RICS approved, of course) or should I go by recommendation (in which case can anyone recommend one?!)

I didn't get the option to instruct the mortgage company surveyor to perform a more comprehensive survey than just a valuation and from what I've heard, it'd be better to instruct my own in any case.

Hi,

The Missus and I recently used http://www.lionhousesurveys.com/ for our purchase in Farnborough which might be close enough?

Very, very thorough report and checked all the extra things we'd flagged as concerns. Recommended.

Cheers, Steve.
