House survey has said the the kitchen has inadequate ventilation, a cooker has been put in the chimney in place of the original "Kitchener" and a standard extractor fitted this is not good enough to push air out of the chimney top (2 stories) as the house is over 200 years old and has no damp proof course the ventilation is a key requirement to keep condensation and damp under control.

If possible, and this would be absolute last resort I would like to avoid boring thru 18" thick limestone walls to vent as per most set ups. I really want to utilise the chimney but want it doing properly.

love to hear from people who have done this proper.

Does the house actually have any existing ventilation problem/high humidity?

Just wondering if this is a generic surveyor comment, as they tend to put anything in that 'may' cause an issue.

This is from a specialist damp and timber survey by an independent.
