Who fitted the door? Try a few double glazing shops, the door must be a standard size.

Either open up the holes and use wood / dry lining screws or gum it up with grip fill etc and use the machine screws.

To avoid failure I'd also run a bit of white silicon around both parts of the letter plate are they are stuck to the door.

OR fill the hole in the door with grip fill and use wood screws both sides.

Bit of an anticlimax, used 4 x 75mm and they worked perfectly. I was careful to not over tighten them but everything seems pretty solid. Superglue, double sided tape and silicon sealant all safe in their containers this time!
