Vaillant ecotec boilers also 7 years if installed by one of their trained registered advance installers.
Some places can even offer extended warranties on boilers like Vaillant, without breaking the bank. I should know, 'cos I got mine from STL Heating. 10 years of warranty with no hassle - phew!! If you're in the North West area, they're worth a go. Well, who want's to pay BG for rocket prices ?

if it aint broke don't fix it unless your going to recover the outlay in the period you are likely to remain in the house.... and boiler replacements can be intrusive depending on what youre changing from/to

our badboy is a 20+ year old kingfisher potterton II and yes it only about 70% efficient but its serviced annually on the dot and im still paying less than 1500 squid per annum for duel fuel for a 130m2 crusty old 1920's house...
Cheers! having read all posts decided that as our boiler still runs just dandy we will stick with it. Thanks all.

The snag is that if it does pack up and you find you can't get parts it's not the best thing to be faced with trying to organise a boiler replacement in a panic. It'll go at a most inconvenient time, and probably when every plumber you know is flat out.

If you've got an old conventional boiler then it can be quite an involved job to change to a current boiler, and more so if you want to go for a combi.

That's why we opted to change ours despite it running perfectly yes

I fully agree that the boiler will last that long but not having it cleaned for 30 years no way do I believe that. Also a 10mm thick piece of metal with a flame on it for 30 years would have burned through I reckon.

No way did you have a back boiler fitted for 30 years without it needing servicing or a thermocouple that is bullst.
Our small Glowworm boiler lasted that long.Every three or four years a new thermocoupling fitted. And regulary serviced.
