I need to install some "bollard" style lights around a garden/lawn,

These type of things:

They are really designed for being bolted to a solid surface.

My thinking for easiest/most cost effective would be to embed a concrete block into the ground/earth? Then bolt directly to the block.

Can anyone think of a better way? Or any products out there that I have missed?

Cheers

Use paving slabs then set them just below the surface and bring the soil over up to the bollards ,
use a masonry drill slow and gentle to make the holes for the fixing screws/bolts and a hole in the centre for the cable
Worked for me

Do they not do a spiked version for use in soft ground?

Previous owners did much the same with a post-mounted light in the midst of some shingle/gravel. The lamp and the fence panel behind it could easily be moved to get the dingy out of the back garden.

Exactly how I approached it and it worked really well.

Dig the hole out , lay some sand so you get the block level and away you go.

I then placed a paving slab directly on top of the block and drilled through it so it was easier to cut / strim the grass around it.

This is exactly what the spark did at our new build.

check out our Facebook page "JRC property solutions", we do loads of this stuff.

Buy cheap slabs from B&Q, drill hole in middle for armours to come through, dig down ( if slab to be covered ) level slab, put in some post crete if needed, fix bollard to slab, we use metal box lids as small shims to get the level just perfect....unlevelled bollards look st
