Pathetic.
Actually, it wasn't me that challenged the OP, it was Bramley.I am genuinely curious how any "house extension" can be made VAT exempt. But to OP seems short on facts on this - any explanation on how he is claiming VAT for a car port at his house, and generally being upset for building something inappropriate and not permitted under planning regs...

At all? Or legitimately?I'm sure the OP must have found a way to do it legitimately, since there's MORE than enough information here to trace him and his business, and it really would be a very silly thing to do to admit so openly to VAT fraud in such a public place. Mr HMRC is definitely known for lacking a sense of humour, and what appear to be relatively minor incidences such as this are rarely one-offs.

Was recoverd last month ! vat registerd
are you going to ask me for my vat registration number next
dont work for HMRC by any chance lol .
No, I don't. I just come from the work hard and pay what tax is required mindset. are you going to ask me for my vat registration number next

I assume that you bought it through your business and have diverted the stuff to a home build.
Well done you. Super.
edit to add: I do like your car. But that carport must be awful for your neighbours and I doubt it will do the job you want. As per my first post, time for a plan B.

Its not rocket science .

Would you like to explain how you can fully recover the VAT?
Br "fully recovering" it: OP can't even work out the numbers properly.Assuming total including VAT is £245.90, and OP paid the full 20% on everything, then total *before* VAT is £204.91 - so OVER £200.
I *really* hope you've got a proper accountant handling your VAT. As this doesn't look like it will end well...
By the way, if you did claim VAT back; from your post:
"Total £245.90 inc vat I claim Vat back ! Total £196.72"
It is actually: £204.92 +20% =£245.90 (Not 245.90*0.8 which is your calculation above - but you would know that, right, having a VAT registered business)
So you paid >£200
How about this - you pay the difference (either £49.18 or the £40.98 - either variant...) in the tax you owe to HMRC to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity? Then everybody wins.

A VAT inclusive price of £245.90 is equivalent to £204.91 ex-VAT.
Beat me to it. I couldn't believe someone claiming to be VAT registered wouldn't have the first idea how to work it out. But seeing as he hasn't the first idea about what can and cannot legally be reclaimed for input VAT...Way too many stiffs on this thread lol yes he built it, yes he knows it has to come down, yes he has had a laugh like we all have.
Cant believe your all preaching the prim and proper life, no one is true to the system, you just make out you are so society doesn't climb on your back.
Well done OP and cheers for the sts and giggles.

You aren't genuinely interested, you're trolling over a tax issue. It's as pathetic as it is boring.
Actually, no I have an extension planned. If I can get 10%-20% more for my money legally, I would like that. Would you like to join the donation I offered to Great Ormand Street?Hint: If you don't like a post, don't reply.
