I did consider a similar construction when I had my 944 but rejected on the grounds it was a good solution to covering a car, but a bad one in every other way, car ports really need to be tucked out of the way down the side of the house.

Pathetic.
Actually, it wasn't me that challenged the OP, it was Bramley.

I am genuinely curious how any "house extension" can be made VAT exempt. But to OP seems short on facts on this - any explanation on how he is claiming VAT for a car port at his house, and generally being upset for building something inappropriate and not permitted under planning regs...
You aren't genuinely interested, you're trolling over a tax issue. It's as pathetic as it is boring.

Exactly. I mean, that's a bit tasteless but no where near the level of trying to prove a point from a tax POV and then willy wave with a charity donation.

It's sad.

Been an interesting thread - helped me to understand what I need to consider when I put a car port at the front of my garage.....

It's all banter. The £200 proof challenge was not mine. PH has always been the land of pedantry as you will know, Having corrected him, I offered also to donate, if he did... If we all did donate then Great Ormand Street would be perhaps £200+up on a lost to HMRC of ~£40.

... Why, are you his accountant?

OP how deep did you dig the holes for those 10 foot posts?

Given fence posts 6 foot above ground need to be 2 deep I'm assuming 10 foot + above ground is quite a lot more than 2 foot. Did that cause issues belong so close to the house and garage footings?

Well, it's that time of year, and this thread has certainly given some much needed amusement. So thankyou, OP for tolerating a lot of piss-extraction with good humour.

Happy Crimble to all if if I'm not on before then.

Does that mean I've waved my willy? Sorry about that...

they are not 10ft post they are 8ft and its not a fence . a fence would fall over without being concreted in my carport might blow away or move but not fall on its side like a fence.

four posts connected together give each other strength bit like a chair !

Fair play to the OP - he's received a lot of criticism over this yet has returned and taken it all in good spirits.

I think the car is pretty cool and the carport doesn't look that bad to me although not sure it will protect the car all that much.

Ok - but how deep are they and are they in postcrete or standing on the block paving with the securing down being purely the total weight of the structure?

I suppose you have to put yourself in the position of being his direct neighbour.

Ok concreted in - how deep did you go? 1/2/3 foot and how wide a hole did you dig for all the cement/did you use normal cement or postcrete does it also mean that some of the block paving is now embedded into the concrete ?

What did you out on the wood to prevent rotting in the concrete? Also when it does rot through how will you replace? Is it a case of digging a huge hole to take up the cement?

Sadly there is no chance it would be permitted in our street so money down the drain and it would certainly alienate us against the neighbours who we have very good relations with.

Just to clarify, would I need planning permission to erect one of these at the side of my house, about 3.5m x 8m?

If he did why isn't he banned - no different to the 944 bought off eBay as a scrap car while drunk? This thread has wasted so many posters time and been all lies from the start with aparently him now admitting it was all bull st.

Mods suggest you look into this - 1 month ban is the punishment

Op appears to be one of "them".

Look at me, I don't care about anybody but me. Look at me, I do everything my way and you should bow before me. Look at me, I don't care about your opinion.

A sudden slap to the ego caused by crossing the line of taste, decency and respect of his fellow citizens has come as a shock it seems.
I believe he's one of those [Albanian] peach [/Albanian] types dragging PH down to their level.
