Few more pics from today. Roof frame on the main garage and games room section, roof lining started on that section, more brickwork completed on the gable ends, above the bays and to extend the wall by the overhang where the Jacuzzi will go (I bought a bigger jacuzzi so had to add 1m to the covered gable end area and roof etc) and a few other bits.

Next jobs are to finish the roof frame above the gym, finish the lining and then add the pantiles. Then the concrete floor, electrics, plaster boarding and plastering before we move on to niceties like the car lifts, tiling, decorating, landscaping, fencing, security etc.

Certainly taking shape now! Bet you can't wait until it's finished.

Really can't wait. 14 bloody cars parked here, there and everywhere waiting, waiting.

New photos tomorrow. They've done quite a bit today. Pub with a Guinness now though.

Looks amazing, but I suspect the neighbours are less than thrilled?

The roof brings it alive for me. I hadn't really got the scale of the thing until the pics with the roof. Wow. Awesome!

They're all fine. Communication is the key.

The only ones who objected (and even went to the planning meeting and objected) had sold their house and moved out just as we started building. Some people eh.

Concrete floors started going down and tiles on over thinnest few days. Oak posts and what have you coming soon too.

Looking better every stage. Were you not tempted to have a power floated finish or is that because you're going to for something like tiles on the base?

Polished light grey 800 x 800 tiles in the garage and games room with a single tile along the base of the walls (so exhaust spit doesn't wreck the plastered white walls).

I have dark grey 600x 600 tiles in my main garages and they've been spot on for the last 2 years and look great.

Different tiles in the gym though as there'll be a wet room and the big tiles wouldn't have worked plus people will be in and out of the Jacuzzi and gym and polished tiles are a tad slippy when wet. Should get a nice reflection of the cars in the garage though hopefully.

They can't go down for a good while. The concrete needs to dry for ages to tile onto it. 4 x 4 post lifts go in on the 8th though.

curious why the floors are going in now rather than making a slab first and building onto that

not that I know anything about building...

The foundations are a metre deep mate. I wouldn't fancy putting in a 175 sq m slab a metre deep any more than I would fancy building on an 8 inch slab.
