I think I read earlier that it can be converted to living accommodation if required also that it's going to be heated and cooled so I would be very suprised if the floor wasn't insulated. It'll probably be some sort of industrial construction considering the lifts etc.

That was just a loose idea that I had that in 25 years when I'm 70 I might apply for planning to convert it to a bungalow as I'm assuming that I'll be too old to manage 15 cars and may want to sell everything (bar my favourite 2-3) and bugger off somewhere warmer.

Not part of my plan when doing anything though as anything could happen in 25 years. Go back 25 years from now. I was 20, hadn't met Mrs Leg, completely different career to the one that ended up being the one that worked for me, iPhones would have been witch craft, the Internet was about to make an appearance and I could drink as much as I wanted without feeling ste for 2 days. I couldn't have predicted today.

4 post lifts only need 6" of concrete. They can be freestanding (although I wouldn't have them freestanding). They're single phase too. Ive had one in my main garage next to my 2 post lift for a couple of years now and it's been superb. They're from SJR.

Interesting thread and great build.

Is insulation between rooms an issue? Seems a tricky mix of aircon to cool (gym), heating for living areas, wetroom (steam) and dehumidifier for car storage!

No, not an issue. There isn't a wetroom?

First two lifts arrived today. Other two tomorrow. Then all bolted in. Controls are being moved to the rear of the back post instead of on the side too.

Builders have mostly been finishing off the roof this week.

Floor tiles will be the last job. Sparky has been wiring up. Security guys come on Friday to pre wire for the monitored alarm and CCTV (which I'm having fitted not he main house and main garage too). Outside heaters ordered. Jacuzzi hot tub ordered. Still need to finalise the heating although pretty much know what Im doing now. Doors will come soon too. Oak ones.

Various other bits and bobs, Ive got a list as long as my arm of details.

Isn't one end of your car going to whack the roof on that lift?

No, loads of room. the bays are 6.5M deep and the lifts 4.2M deep. Ive measured the height and clearance and even a full size modern car (E92M3) would fit. As it is only classics will be in this garage plus my 458 Spider and Esprit V8 (both on the ground) so there's even more room as the classics are all much smaller.

Moderns except the two above will be in the main garages at the house.

Possibly the very wide angle lens on my DSLR makes it look lower and wider?

I wish it was luck mate. I could have the last twenty years back. :-)

On another, more PH related note, set the carbs and timing up on the Escort Mk1 RS BDA today with a mate who looks after my cars. It needs to go to a rolling road but even as is, just awesome round the country roads near me. What a noise.

God I love cars. They make me go all wibbly. :-)

Original RS1600 BDA steel arches, tons of paperwork, newest addition to the collection and I absolutely love it.

Bastid! I'm not a ford man, but, seriously, look at it!

When's the opening again?

I have dark grey 600x 600 tiles in my main garages and they've been spot on for the last 2 years and look great.

Different tiles in the gym though as there'll be a wet room and the big tiles wouldn't have worked plus people will be in and out of the Jacuzzi and gym and polished tiles are a tad slippy when wet.

Ahh, sorry, my bad. Meant to say that people will be wet in that room walking between the hot tub and shower so polished tiles would be slippy.

My apologies. Lazy keyboard skills! In fact, complete bks. Doh!
