Re: oiling the oak. Reoil at least twice as often as the pack says. The oil dries out, lets water in and the wood goes black. It's a bugger to sand out and retreat.

Had this problem with my gates and they now look s@@t.

Gutted...
Use Osma oil - awesome stuff - did 2 layers on my oak car port 18 months ago : still looks cock on smile

Internet. We're in the sticks so it comes in on aerials off the back of the main fibre optic ring round York. The phone lines are ancient and we can't get more than half a meg at best on them. We get 14 meg on the wireless system, if it isn't raining, or windy, or a tree hasn't grown across the line of sight, and its in a good mood.

I'd be more than happy to live in that hehe

What's the thing sticking out the ground for? I assume that's round the side of the garage?

That's the drive at the back of the garage for my Racetransporter 4 trailer and Mercedes GL 4x4. The post is a telescopic security post.

I've gone a tad overboard on security but I won't post details here for obvious reasons. Cctv everywhere and a monitored alarm plus 'other stuff'.

You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get planning permission for a pit with snakes in it. ;-)

We could do with that round here, it might improve our woeful 1mpbs.

Openreach claim we are in the sticks as well, but we can be in central London in an hour by train.

I don't suppose you have any more info on this? Brand, provider etc? My folks have woeful internet in the sticks and are looking at options.

+1, i've tried a 4g wireless dongle and the 4g was non-existent as well.

Leg, Im just the other side of the wood, we had the same problem,

we used to get 0.8 on a good day, BT were useless as we are at the end of a long cable,
a mate suggested EE mobile, Im paying £30 a month for 25gb,
you can get 1gb for £10, 3gb for £15, 15gb for £20, etc

free modem with a sim card in.

btw was that your black cat scrapping in the road this morning with a ginger one? it came off your drive.argue

had to stop the car and wait for them to finish.

We use a company called Clannet. They do rural broadband across North Yorkshire and one or two other areas I believe.

No cats here mate. Just a dog, a rabbit and a turtle!

Just plaster boarding today so no new pics. Boring stuff.

I reckon 4 weeks yet for everything done including the details.

Ordered 4 Klaus Wagger pictures to go with my Tim Layzell ones yesterday. Looking forward to getting those up.
