You know you've ruined the marrage. When people ask "how was the wedding" he's not going to talk about the ceremonial!

No, but I am thinking about what I'll do when I do. I also have more time to myself already as people tae more responsibility so Im hoping to have toime to go paddling.

Few more years left in the old dog yet.

Fair enough, I understand from Craig what had gone on - just didn't know if you were leaving as contract was up or something smile

Is this the walkway from the garage to the mail house?

Before the landscaping is complete, is it worth getting the builders to stick a couple of lights along the route that you can turn off/on from either end?

I know you probably aren't scared of wintery evenings, but it will make progress more pleasant if you can see where you are walking.

To my mind, this:

Well that was good fun. Rolled up outside the chap's house, he had no idea. As far as he knew he was driving his Volvo to the venue.

Took him for a spin. Had a chat and then drove him to the venue. His face was a picture when I hopped out and told him to drive the old jalopy up the private lane to the place.

Hopefully added a smile to someone's face. What goes around comes around too. Turns out he is into Canoeing and Kayaking and Ive been planning to get into that when I finish work. Now Ive got someone to show me the ropes. Nice.

Crappy iphone pic of him driving it up the lane.

And this:

I am that normal man and you're right, it is a dream. Just been down there and all that I hear in my head is "Holy st, holy st, thats mine, wow!".
Are entirely linked. I have enjoyed this buold thread immensely, all the moreso for the OP clearly being a decent chap who has worked hard and done rather well. He also has rather good taste in cars.

To the OP, well done and I hope you enjoy the fruits of your (clearly considerable) labours; it’s richly deserved enjoyement!

Thanks for the replies, particularly the supportive ones. I just believe you get out what you put in, to anything.

Lights - we have hidden PIR activated lights everywhere. Mrs Leg doesn't like tech on show.

Tiles - pan tiles are standard around York. I wanted it to fit in with the rest of the village and my house. Anyway, I like villas.

Seating next to the Jacuzzi. This will have an oak top (split into 3 sections) that hinges up from the front for storage.

Wash lights in in the garage to light my Tim Layzell signed prints. I have three double versions of these to go in the games room for my other automotive paintings/prints.

Brackets fitted and holes drilled for the 2 x 24000 btu heating/aircon/dehumidifier units. These will be wifi connected for remote control. A 12000 will go in each of the games room and gym.

Gym first coat of paint on

Loo in and brackets fitted for towel shelves

Shower

Decided to put a middle bar on the fence. The fence covered with the existing hedge round the original garden is only two bar but until the hedges grew to the same thickness and height as the originals two bar didn't look right.

Fence at the other side

Path from the new build to the covered decking/BBQ area (yet to be built)

And a path from the other side of the decking, past the shed, to join onto the flags in front of the main garage in the same flags that the house had already. The decking is a natural break between the flag styles. The flags are actually the same but new. choice to weather the new ones in or jet wash the old ones till they match. The former sounds like less effort.

Well, no back gate being on took its toll yesterday. Neighbour's Spaniel got into the rabbit run and killed the rabbit. Wife really upset as it was a bit of a mess. Sigh.

Ouch :/

We had the same last year but with our cat and the neighbours 3 year old daughters rabbit. In fairness they left the lid off so if not our cat it would've been one of the others that live round here or one of the hundreds of foxes.

Garage really looks to be coming together now, jealous doesn't quite cover it!

'Twas a springer, we used to have one for 15 years so this doesn't surprise me, and he managed to unlatch the door and get in the run. Neighbour was mortified but it's just one of those things. He and I were chatting about how nice his Cayman s looked in (cobalt?) blue, dog wandered off, next thing, screaming wife. To be fair to the dog when I dragged it out of the run it was placid as you like.

Spaniel sees rabbit sees prey. That's life eh.

Wife has me in a garden centre with two massive trolleys full of plants along with a million other bored husbands on bank holiday Sunday. Better be back for the f1.

I have to say , part of me would be very proud that the dog was bright enough to undo the latch - that's quite a trick - impressed ! Of course that would be my own inner secret whilst the other part would show true remorse ! smile

We had a rabbit who had free rein in the garden 24/7. If a cat jumped down off the fence, the little madam charged them.
