Ideally I'd like a bedroom with dressing area and ensuite,

How would you lay it out?

(The longer measurement on the left hand side is if we where to add a dormer)

As a start, think about how the drainage and services from/to the en-suite will connect to the existing systems and position accordingly.

"Both sides" or back and front?

What is the compass heading, which way is East? I would want to get as much morning light into a bedroom as possible.

What kind of dormer? a full gabled ? a sled, a flat.

What about putting the dormer in the end (hip) aspect, would that be possible?

What kind of truss/struts do you have.

All services available on both left or right of the picture

Bottom of the picture where the dormer will potentially go is facing south west so no problems regarding light,

I'd rather keep the dormer to the rear tbh, just to reduce the visual impact on the front and the available natural light

Currently it's a trussed loft however I'm still weighing up which way to approach the conversion (leaning towards roof off and loft trusses installed)

The stairs in that position are going to give limited space for the bedroom, hipped roofs usually make for poor lofts especially if trying to get an ensuite in, I'd be tempted to go for a hip to gable if funds permit. Is it a house or bungalow?
