Had to google it too - looks like it would be easy to make a mess.
I will turn my hand to anything in the house and am actually a very good decorator. But I loathe doing it and is one job I will always get someone in - for £150 a day it's worth it to me!
I am quite fussy though and have never found an easy way to get a good finish.

I did a charity event through work a few years back that involved painting a church - the bloke running it ran a painting firm and showed me the quickest way to paint.
Get a good, wide, roller cage, stick it on an extending pole, and then move up and down the wall in one full stroke. I still hate painting, but at least I can do it quicker now.
I did buy a HVLP paint sprayer, it's great for things like radiators, but couldn't get on with it for emulsion.

Over the last 2 months I've done the hall and landing and the kitchen/diner. The kitchen/diner/family room is open plan with pitched roofs and a couple of velux windows plus various structural beams. So, st loads of surfaces all at different angles and with different colours.
Absolute fking pig of a job. Never again. How anyone can do that for a living is beyond my comprehension. I'm glad they do though as I'm paying someone next time.
My only tip is to use green from tape. It's ridiculously expensive but seems to be the only one that actually works ie. It stops paint bleed and doesn't pull patches off emulsion off with it on removal.
