Just as a matter of interest how often did you have to change the cartridge on that Aqualisa shower?

Never, inherited when we moved in. Just pulled it apart, and it's scaled up to buggery, worked fine though.

Had one very similar to that until last year. First two cartridges lasted about 3 or 4 years (stopped regulating temperature properly) the last one about 10 after they changed from black to grey (or the other way around).

My dad's like this. Changing the fluorescent strip light in the garage ended up in him changing all the wiring, light switches, junction boxes and the consumer unit! Looks loads better than it was though to be fair.

My best 5min job was replacing a washer on a dripping tap in the kitchen.

It escalated to a £12,000 extension and new kitchen...

You can get this magic potion from Screwfix which makes the old mastic turn brittle. Makes it much easier to remove.

Good work smile

Know the feeling- had the same here. what was meant to be a quick spruce up of the bathroom has turned into a full on refurb due to the previous owners handiwork. The solvent weld waste was "glued" together with silicon which all just fell to bits when we disturbed it, which led to all the rest of the plumbing being replaced as it was in the way. A badly polytexed ceiling was hiding a load of moisture damage which meant a new ceiling too. I wish people would just do stuff properly the first time round!

I feel your pain, undoing previous bodges doubled the time it took.
