Congrats - see, like I said on the other thread, something that on paper isn't quite what you want can surprise you once you go and have a look.

You can have all sorts of sensible ideas about how to approach a house viewing but sometimes it just feels right and that checklist goes out of the window. When we were younger we once put an offer in on a place largely because it had a round window...!

Some good advice above although with regard to neighbours, any semi or terrace is a gamble - worth checking whether there have been any issues with current neighbours but ultimately you've no control who moves in if those neighbours sell up.

Anyway, good luck with it all.

Indeed! It's funny, less than 12 hours after talking about what a disappointment it was, we're now talking about how it was a blessing because we'd have never seen this! Life's funny like that at times.

You're right about the "feel" of it, everything just felt right today.

I talked to the next door neighbour - a nice lady of about my age. Unfortunately they'd just sold their house (moving to a bigger one) so even if we bought this house they won't be our neighbours very long!

Excellent, but I would really go and see it again before making an offer.

The other rule is do not rule out houses because of what they look like on the net.
Yes, I'd like to take my parents there also. I may be 28 but I still value their opinion.

Definitely learned about not ruling them out based on the online ad!

Congratulations I hope everything does well with the purchase,So you bought the first house you viewed and if your head and heart said this is the one then thats great and you did the right thing.Save a lot of time and stress viewing others that maybe not as good as this one and may have ultimately missed out on this one that had name on it.

You should always go with your instincts.I remember when I first got married I went shopping with the wife and in the first shoe shop we went to she really likes a pair of shoes but being a woman we looked in ten other shops and ended up buying the shoes in the first shop.Never been clothes shopping with her since lol.

Now you can look forward to all the exciting things like furnish your house.

Well done.

Thanks!

Yep, first house we ever viewed!

However it was definitely a head, not heart, decision, and we slept on it (with lengthy discussions before and after) to ensure we weren't being too impulsive! We have been researching for several months, and knew exactly what we wanted. When we stepped inside we just knew it was the place for us.

It's essentially been completely gutted and re-done inside, everything is new. New kitchen, bathrooms, windows, doors, flooring, wiring, central heating, boiler, fencing....it's like a brand new house. It's exciting, as it feels like it's never been lived in even though it has!
