I've got one of these

18" cutting deck means it's very quick to cut my lawn, no faffing with cables or petrol and it's a reasonable workout too.

My Grandad's old Suffolk Punch (sadly not the nicer/older Atco that he replaced with this). I have fond memories of attempting to mow his almost vertical side lawn with this as a child. I've been slowly restoring it...

...and a Hayter Harrier, as my lawn isn't yet cylinder mower friendly...

I bought one of those once - cheeky travellers nicked it. Bless them and their protected way of life.

Like something from the 'brick in the wall' video, it also looks immensely dangerous, like it would happily take both legs in seconds flat, interesting though.

Will be "sorting out" my lawn just as soon as I refurb this old Gal......

Love it! Nearly bought one for doing our lawn, but with the mini digger didnt really need it, and there were none at all near for anything like sensible money.

Moved to our 1930's place last year so needed a petrol mower, on the basis of everyone on here and mates saying get a Honda engine the search was on

Bought today from FB in a socially distant fashion

Think I got a bargain, runs and cuts well, gonna change the oil, needs one adjusting lever which I've ordered from eBay for £6

My first petrol and chuffed, gonna tart up the body at somepoint

As a lover of all things garden I have a pole cutter, hedge cutter, strimmer, chainsaw and leaf blower smile
Here's my Lawnmower, about 8 years old, engine is as good as new, but the body was starting to show signs of rust which I hope I caught in time.

Here's a brand spanking new one that I just ordered.... arrived the next day, very impressed.

I had never heard of Cobra before, but it looks well made and the engine is great. It mulches or collects, which is what I needed... the clutch had failed on my elderly Mountfield and it was just too heavy to push.

This is fresh out of the box and unused in this photo.

Ok so seeing as I’m giving my lawn a total renovation my manmaths brain is open to buying a cylinder mower.
I already have a Honda Izy and had bought a mulching blade but I like the thought that a cylinder mower will help me get towards a very high quality lawn in the long term.

Area is around 10m x 8m and flat. Just how flat depends on the success of my soon to be homemade lute!

So.. should I start with a generic push one and see how I get on? I’d love an Allett or similar but even the used ones on eBay look very ropey for the money!

I'd go with either of the Webbs from here

Current mower is a John Deere X165, which is *rap. The Tuff Toque K46 hydro unit is pants, and after only 150hrs is dead.

It replaced my trusty John Deere 1973 140H, which had been in the family for 35 years. After too many breakdowns, I was seduced by the shiny new stuff.

Regretted it ever since.

On the look out now for something similar sized but decent power and toughness.

Only really had regular size lawns before moving to Ayrshire but when we moved we bought about 700 sq m of field to grow veg and a small orchard. Plenty of grass though. Quite far from the nearest plug point so our old electric flymo wouldn't really do. And I have ME and can't always be active - for a normal person a petrol mower would be the answer but the attendant weight makes that a no go for me.

After much research - I bought a Bosch 43 li Rotak cordless. It's mostly plastic, which I thought would be awful - but it is surprisingly tough. It's coped well with an uneven field with tough grass, rush, weeds, etc and the (metal) blade makes short work of everything. Blade height is stupidly easy to change, and it compacts grass in the collector so I don't have to wander to the compost heap too often. The main USP for me was that it only weighs around 14 kgs so is a doddle for many people with physical issues. The battery tech is spot on too - it doesn't drain when not in use and the mower will switch off before the motor has to work too hard (getting grounded on a very bumpy bit, for example). And I can easily mow away for 80 minutes or so before taking a 2 hour break for the battery to charge (although in reality I mow in short sessions over several days).

Plus if you squint and take hallucinogenics it looks quite sporty...ahem...

I realise this is probably the equivalent of posting about a Prius on the car forums...sorry. hehe

here's mine, does a 1 acre garden and a 7 acre field every now and then, hence on the trailer, just back from the field.
