Here's my 'mortgage inducing' pair of scissors absolutely brilliant British made machine. Have a few of the interchangeable cassettes, 12 blades - verticutter - brush - scarifier. Currently cutting down to 9mm but due to a lack of end of year renovations and a good winter for moss the lawn is not quite tiptop and is slowly recovering from having to scarify (hate doing it in the spring).

Plastic deck McCulloch job, Brigg'n'Strat engine, cost ninety quid from Argos about 7 years ago. Cheap, cheerful and thus far has required nothing more than a new pull cord last year and the blade sharpening on the bench grinder 3 or 4 times.
Might even go crazy and service the engine one day!
Looks like this except for general grubbiness:
I've got one of those too - had it for same amount if time. Its needed a carb diaphram kit (ran very rich and kept hunting) and the deck has been patched with ally due to hitting kids die cast toys that were left in the grassMight even go crazy and service the engine one day!

It has been very reliable and surprisingly robust as it has had some rough treatment through the years. It suits my value drive approach to life perfectly!
I guess the lack of features and complexity means there is much less to go wrong. I bought it for the garden which admittedly isn't huge, but also to mow the paths and edges of our allotment we had at the time, so I was looking for a mower that was petrol driven and small and light enough to fit in the boot of our e46 convertible we also had then!
Some awesome mowers being posted !

Logic 150 flail for the paddocks. Annoyingly, I did the small paddock the other day and it conked out. The engine has today been removed and collected by the garage as the B&S V-twin has blown both head gaskets - the crankcase pressure then filled the carb with oil. It should be ready in a couple of weeks provided parts are not hard to get.

Nice quad! Can't go wrong with a Honda. I'm surprised the B&S engine shat itself - were you revving the bks out of it?
The quad is a lot of fun! The mower engine is governed so it can't over-rev. It's all fixed now in any case. The garage replaced both head gaskets and skimmed the heads which were warped. I bought it second hand and I suspect it had been overheated due to not cleaning the fins and they have been leaking slightly for a while. First hard use of the season made them blow fully. Apparently it is a common issue with some of the Vanguard V-twins due to composite gaskets - the newer ones use a steel gasket. The rest of the engine is very good though - the bores are spotless according to the garage.
