have you put anything down to sort them out?^^

Also have you confirmed its chafer grub not leatherjackets?
It was a few years ago now. Deffo chafers, and was infested for five years! (apparently the five year cycle thing is standard). Some of the neighbours tried nemetodes with limited success.

Scarified mine last year for the first time which made it like a ploughed field
Bit worried by this, the scarifier I have bought (Tesco special) looks pretty hard core, my Dad is absolutely convinced I'm going to plough the lawn not scarify it....I've been told it will plough if it's at all wet but otherwise it should be fine.

Oh well.....fingers crossed, here I go!

What you don't want are chafer grubs! First they eat the roots of your lawn, then the birds dig the lawn up to eat the grubs!

I had this last year - both front and back lawns. Had my lawn care company deal with it for about £30 - they took it quite seriously as apparently can destroy lawns in some cases.

When I moved into my current house, the lawns were an absolute mess. Paid a lawn care firm for one year intensive treatment and now pay £15.50 a quarter and it keeps it looking immaculate.

Hi Rob. I'm thinking about doing similar

Merit turf is what you need, it's expensive but will wipe them out.

bounce Woo hoo the grass survived the scarifier...I'll upload some pics but I'm not sure what to do next, I've got some patches where there was moss which are a bit bald, a strip where the dog runs which is very bald and some random patches that need reseeding.

I've got seen and some kind of granular fertilizer - do I just bung it down?

A spreader would be better than throwing it down, fork the areas that are needing reseeded then apply a compost/seed mix this should protect the seeds and help them germinate quickly.

I have a lawn care company (in East Lothian ;-) ) will help with any advice when I can.
Thats handy to know; I'm in Dirleton and a few of my neighbours use a local lawn care company which might be you!

Is there anything more satisfying than a masturbation gag?

Some would argue the case for masturbation and a gag in the same setting. Kinky hose buggers

Scarified yesterday the top lawn.

Chickens were there to assist - although they weren't very good bringing fresh cold stella out to me.

Any recommendation of what feed to use? We've got around 800m2 of mossy lawn to sort this year, so would this be any good

Interesting thread!

I need to completely do a 90% new lawn on my renovation. Can hopefully get some advice from here.

I admire your enthusiasm but life's too short. Shale out the front, artificial turf out the back.

I'd rather spend my time in the garden poking at the BBQ. smile

I need to sort my lawns out. An extension to the house meant the front lawn was lost to a rubbish dump and the rear was neglected and used for storing stuff, resulting in some big bold patches. New turf went down a few weeks ago and seems to have taken well.

Good to get out in the garden again this weekend! I am not a gardener, but find mowing the lawn and trying to improve it strangely therapeutic!
