Def one of my fav threads right now.
I'm about to declare war on our back garden which is literally covered in moss.
It needs deep scarify, then anti moss spray, then re-scarify, then reseed and fertilise then water and wait (at a guess).
Going to be a long road after many years of neglect, but fingers crossed. Its largish (around 1000sqm at a guess?) so going to take a while.
I'm guessing that with a garden that size you will be using a powered scarifier, if so, you can probably get away without the moss spray and second scarify. You're probably best getting the seed down before the weather gets too warm (he says hopefully).I'm about to declare war on our back garden which is literally covered in moss.

Hell yes. Got a cartridge insert for the little qualcast. Still takes a while to do, but I'd give up if I had to do it by hand with a rake. If I could get a scarifier for the big Atco, I'd be laughing!
The little front lawn is only 70sqm odd, so takes far less effort. That has come up a treat after I scarified the bejesus out of it then overseeded and fertilised, so figured I'd had a stab at the back (fnarr fnarr) so have ordered a whole bunch more seed, fertiliser etc etc.

Well we hired a supposed professional company and this is what we got for new turf. Let the fun and games commence trying to work on a solution with the company, personally I just want to tell them to stuff it and do it myself.
That is awful, and where did they get the turf near the top.Don't stump up a penny for that. An area that size you'll be able to do yourself.

Each to their own and that, but IMO that's not a garden. At last plant some plastic trees, or make a faux rockery?
Nah, I wanted something nice and simplistic that requires nothing other than the odd pressure wash of the patio and a going over with the grass with a leaf blower ocassionaly.I'll get the fence and sleepers painted and leave it at that

Wait until is hot and the smell of dog piss poo wafts through your living room windows. My neighbours did similar and they landed up giving their dog away, since there was nothing to break down the dog piss / poo down, bacterially, and the kids couldn't play on the AstroTurf since it stank...I'll get the fence and sleepers painted and leave it at that

The dog isn't getting on it! Your neighbours stuff must have been unlike this new pet friendly grass though as dog piss/crap isn't an issue with it. Willeh85 said:

It looks great, is low maintenance, has most of the benefits and almost none of the drawbacks?
What's not to understand?
Personally, I like real grass but for an entertaining space and time poor lifestyle, its a no brainer so far as I can see.
Personally, I'd add some more interest to the photo attached, but that's just me. some prefer minimalism, others clutter, most of us in between.
BTW, I've stolen the steps idea for our patio project..

For the record, i'm only talking in jest. I just think it's strange coming into the beardy lawn obsessive thread, and posting plastic grass. It's be like going into that weird detailing forum, and posting a picture of the automatic car wash down at Tesco in the "double bucket and soapy glovewk" thread
