Bosch or Siemens Appliances?
Discussion
Specifically for a dishwasher and a fridge/freezer?
My instinct when sourcing some new appliances was Bosch, but our mother in law won't stop harping on about how Siemens is better. I have no clue, and the high street retailers don't seem to stock much beyond Beko and Samsung now (looking at you Pukverld) so I'm letting PH decide figuring that you (collectively) know much more than my mother in law in almost every subject I can imagine.
Bosch are cheaper, clearly.

It is said that Bosch and Siemens appliances (and Nef) come out of the same factory. There is certainly a lot of similarity between the models. I'd be happy with either brand.
I think they tend to reserve the latest innovations for the Siemens and Nef product lines as they are considered high end, the products are perhaps a bit more stylish too. Bosch is perhaps a bit more utilitarian.
We've got Siemens ovens at home purely due to them having the specific combination we wanted but a Bosch dishwasher and hob. All been good so far.
The dishwasher is integrated anyway so looks are unimportant. Can't comment on the fridges/freezers as we have a Panasonic American style fridge freezer but we do have a Bosch chest freezer out in the garage which is still going strong.

I prefer the design of Siemens and they're a little more 'exclusive' than Bosch, so great for brand snobs (like me). I can't cook, I just love the way they look and work, and the way the neat little switch on the hood goes 'beep' and the lights fade up...
I have a Siemens oven, induction hob, hood, washing machine and microwave. The only disappointing one is the microwave, which is relatively plasticky and made in England - so watch for that.

We fitted all Siemens appliances 5 years ago when I did our kitchen as the OH worked for them at the time so we got staff discount.
The washing machine packed up recently and in order to save me the hassle of getting the integrated door to fit another make we bought a Neff model: Exactly the same as the Siemens machine we had (hope it lasts longer than 5 years though ) and about £200 less too as John Lewis was doing some trade in deal for Neff. Granted the Siemens ovens and microwave look pretty smart, but I think we'll end up with Neff replacements eventually.

We've got a Hotpoint fully integrated dishwasher that says "made by Bosch" on the inside of the door. It was £250 cheaper than the identical Bosch one and being integrated there isn't a "badge".The washing machine packed up recently and in order to save me the hassle of getting the integrated door to fit another make we bought a Neff model: Exactly the same as the Siemens machine we had (hope it lasts longer than 5 years though ) and about £200 less too as John Lewis was doing some trade in deal for Neff. Shame you didn't see my thread about whether the doors match on integrated appliances. However, I took a tape measure to the shop and only found Neff/Bosche/Siemens that had the exact same spacing/height from the floor for the hinges, so they can't have stocked the one you have. Someone did say the same about Whirlpool, but the hinges were completely different layout on all the ones they had on display, plus they were a lot higher noise levels too.
I've got a Siemens washer. Had it for 8 years before I moved house last Sept and the washer broke down in the new house. Turned out I didn't lock the drum before moving and it trapped something inside. Siemens accepted my 10year warranty from my old address as I couldn't find the receipt and the engineer came out, released the trapped part and went on his way. He commented that Siemens "don't make 'em that good anymore" and that the machine was good for another 10 years!
I'll certainly buy a top-end washer next time. Listened to coleagues woes about Hoover/Hotpoint etc and they aren't worth it. My Siemens is so quiet too.
But it's nothing compared to my mom's Miele. 15 years old and like a loyal Labrador. Can hardly hear it on full spin, it's so quiet.
Another brand I've been mightily impressed with is Electrolux/AEG (same company).Never broke down on me and quality outshone other brands.

Going Bosch for the dishwasher and hob in the new kitchen with Samsung for the washing machine, oven and fridge. Did get a pyrolytic Bosch oven and induction hob thrown in for free with the package, but we want a gas hob and the Samsung oven is very sexy (and also has a 5 year warranty) - so suspect the extra Bosch bits will be going on eBay
As long as you aren't going for cheapos, I can't say I noticed much in the quality difference between the main brands, in the end it came down to what we liked the look of - Samsung don't do a gas on glass hob unfortunately and the dishwasher is hidden and we got a deal on the Bosch - no brainier.
Have also heard good stuff about John Lewis TV's (which may just be re branded LG?) Maybe worth a look for appliances too?
Decent brand and a decent warranty - beyond that, what do you like the look of and are there any bells and whistles you want?

I've had the same appliances in my flat for 15 years and all are still working.
Zanussi washing machine. The same one with an AEG panel on the front was £100 more expensive at the time.
Having said that it might work as well as it ever did, but actually, I've never been that impressed by its performance.
Smeg dishwasher - cosmetically this is a bit shabby now, the plastic parts are brittle and I've had to dismantle it a fair bit to give it a thorough cleaning once or twice. It is probably on its last legs now.
Liebherr fridge-freezer - this is built like a tank, except after 15 years the door hinge dropped and it wouldn't seal the door. I replaced it for just over £100 with a used Miele from Ebay that was exactly the same model, and had spent all that time in an office with its door hinged on the other side. Swap the hinges over, and bob's your uncle. Good as new. I still have the Liebherr in the garage because if I hinge it's door on the original side again it will be good as new.
I also bought a Dualit toaster (the proper, British one, not the diffusion line) and a Dyson around the same time (again, British-made) and both are still going strong.
