I have a lounge/dining room that is carpeted.
I want to lay bamboo flooring in the dining room portion which means cutting the existing carpet.

Is it simply a case of measuring carefully, cutting, then installing some gripper rods along the new edge?
The edging of the bamboo floor will cover this newly-cut edge.
Will this do the trick??

You will require a suitable carpet to wood floor threshold taking into account the difference in height between the two floor finishes.

Make sure you have a brand new blade in your Stanley knife so that you dont end up hacking away at the carpet. Marking the cut first will keep things nice and straight, only thing I can think working well is a chalk line.

Cut your carpet and underlay oversize (you wont need to do this precisely). Fit the base of a wood to carpet transition strip to the floor .Pencil a straight line on the floor to follow. Then cut your underlay and carpet into the base. Fit your bamboo flooring into the other side of the base. Fit the strip top. Voila wink

New Stanley blade and a straightedge makes cutting a doddle.

go to any flooring shop and ask for a Z plate... ive taken a pic for you !!!!!

nail the plate in place cut the underlay upto the first edge, then cut the carpet about 10mm past the plate.
then just tuck in the spiked side.... easy peasy
