Well that's the third pair of trousers I've turned to plastic this week frown

No more cheapo £15 irons banghead

Budgets 50 quid, I've been looking at Breville as we had one in work which was good but no idea what model to get. Anything decent to consider? Are stainless bottoms better or get ceramic?

Has to be a steam iron. It makes it so easy (for the missus) to iron shirts etc. You only have to go over once, not back and forward. I (ahem - she) can't recommend it enough. Get get from a place you can take it back to if you don't like - I am sure you will keep it. I would go for a brand name or a amazon top seller.

Bought one of these a couple of weeks back after running out of patience with the old leaky Tefal.

The Philips job is alright, certainly heats up quickly and the soleplate coating works well, but it still lets the odd bit of water out of the steam outlets - despite all the "anti drip" claims.

Philips supposedly make the best irons. I've got one of these. It'll do 4 or 5 shirts before you have fill the water tank again, a nice long cord, a range of steam settings, plus it's black. This is a cheap price too..

Saving up and getting a steam generator really is worth it. It cuts ironing time in half and our last Tefal unit had lasted about 8 years....

Wifey bought our previous iron and it was ste! It broke the other month and She asked me to fix it so I did.........with a lump hammer smash

went straight on line and bought the Tefal cordless (as above) without telling Her. She loves it. No more trailing cords to get in the way thumbup

Another vote for one of these. Being cordless really does make all the difference. Once you have one you'll never be able to go back, even possibly to a steam generator.

If you can't quite tell, I, erm, I mean, the missus, really likes the cordless tefal thumbup

Why not buy decent trousers? Wool doesn't melt.
