Thread ressurection!
With the help of this thread I got mine open. Have you painted yours recently?
Check that there's no paint binding it shut.

Apart from that I'm out of ideas.

The door opens downwards. The lock normally only needs a 90 degree turn.

Some have a safety on them and they only drop a little then need pulled forward slightly before fully opening.

Is there any movement in your one?

Right
I finally sorted it by sawing the end of the lock of with a hacksaw. It turns out part of the mechanism had detached so wasn't moving when I unlocked it.

My problem now is I need to find a new lock somewhere. It needs to have the metal rods also because I have sawed the end off mine

You should have gone in through the ceiling and tackled it from inside the loft.

Remember that next time...smile

Rather than a lock, have you looked at getting a loft Latch/Catch. Then you won't need a key.

The problem is that my hatch is huge so it has supporting rod connected to the lock.

Hi, Mikepcon.
I'm on the hunt for the same locking mechanism.
Just wondering if you ever found it and where?
any info would be much appreciated.
thank you!
