My shed has been totally overrun by spiders. It's like some kind of horror film

My question is, why are there so many of them? There will easily be several hundred (8x6 shed). What are they all eating? How have they survived all winter? Will they work together to kill me?

I'll admit it, the though of clearing it out physically scares me, but I don't particularly want to burn it down - does any kind if insecticide work on spiders?

I'm planning on sealing up all the edges with sealant/gap foam to stop them getting in once it's clear.

Someone will know the name but there is a candle you buy, light it and close the door. It will kill every living thing in there while it burns out.

Should see the horses stable i go to... the cobwebs are thicker than the supporting beams, the windows are, well there not very good windows anymore. Keeps the flies off the horses apparently, so i have to deal with it.

Normal woodworm treatment (permethrin) takes them out very effectively.

Keen to here more about these candles.. ears

I know citronella is like cryptonite for spiders but didn't think it killed, just deterred.

This seems to be the most sensible option.

There was a similar thread a while back. It even included pictures of the inferno

Think the candles are Sulphur or the more organic Garlic type.

I used a couple of these in my garage as I was getting eaten alive by midges and bird mites. It has had the added advantage of killing everything else horrible too!
