I know that when a new house is build and lead flashing is used its best to treat it with a suitable oil to keep it looking natural.

My house is 15 years old and the builder painted the lead flashing with some kind of light grey paint.Over the years it has become stained and I would like to repaint it so does anyone have a recomendation to what paint I should use.

Are you sure he didn't oil it?
Can't think of a reason to paint flashing, you don't oil it to change the colour, just to stop it staining tiles, brickwork etc?

No the builder did not oil the lead flashing he painted it with a light grey paint. You see lots of houses that have the lead get stained over the years and people paint it.All I am after is what paint is best to paint the lead flashing.

It should have been coated with patination oil.

But can be painted with Everbuild Black Jack

If it's only paint, I'd take a stainless steel pot scrubber to it and take the paint off - nothing sticks well to lead, it'll take the paint off in a second.
Did this to my Mum's flashing round her chimney, and it came off like dust, leaving a nice bright (for lead) finish. Then a quick wipe with patination oil, as you are effectively renewing the lead surface - good for ever.

It might have been this that was used. It comes in a light grey colour and is slightly flexible to accommodate any movement in the lead. flexacryl Why people paint lead is a mystery to me thoughconfused
