edit-I'll call it 'poolux' kitchen paint - £25 a can. Supposedly will do up to 32 sq metres it says on the back. Now we all know that's bks but I think, well I'll hopefully get two coats out of it - my wall is 9 sq meters.

Done one coat, used 2/3s of a can! So be lucky to do 14 sq meters. And yes, I did try and stretch it. What a fking rip-off. So today I will try and make that 1/3 left do the second coat. I don't want to spend fifty quid on one fking wall, wkers.

Did you pick the colour or was it the blind guy behind the counter who can "hear" colours who picked it?tongue out
And yep, paint these days is a total rip - I went to buy some black gloss for my front door and surround, the fella was steering me towards some "Trade" stuff (Why do all paint companies have a "Trade" range - is it just to rip off the guy who is a DIYer and thinks it'll be better?) - ended up buying a can of proper old lighthouse black from my neighbour, ancient can but stored well and mixed up nicely.
Pre Eurocrap legislation, so it smells great, and I get to use white spirit to clean my brushes in, then use the dirty spirit to start a bonfire.

I was going to comment on the fine choice of colour. I've done my son's room in something quite similar, and it looks awesome. Far better than yet another shade of off-white smile

He's not even done 9m2 anyway. With all those sockets, at least 20% of the wall is plastic boxes!

Can anyone recommend some reasonably priced paint!

I bought some über cheap emulsion from Screwfix when we were painting our hall before the house went on the market:

Was actually not bad for the money. Two coats gave a nice even finish and there was almost zero smell from it.

We're looking to do some decorating soon but £25 for a tin of Dulux Natural Calico is ridiculous.

I've also heard good things about Leyland paint.

Well to back-peddal slightly, I did manage to get a 2nd coat on. So all in all for future reference it will do a max of 20 sq meters for one of those smaller tins.

re poster above - I've used Leyland for the walls and ceiling, and gloss woodwork. I've been happy enough with it. Only been white though so not sure if they do more interesting colours or not.

Leyland is decent enough. A good paint shop will be able to mix up any of the Leyland colours from their charts or even mix colours from Dulux/Crown etc in Leyland paint. Will be about half the price as well. smile
