In the end I went with Solarfold. I contacted them via here. I got what I felt was a good deal. Are they good products, I don't know yet because the extension they have gone in is still being built.

I had a mixture of smart aluminium (crap) and express bifolds for bifold doors large windows (smart couldn't make them 2.5m high). I wish I had used express for the lot. The smart ones are freezing to touch and have condensation on the frames. The Express Windows in the same room are not ice cold to touch thus have no condensation on them.

We're looking at the "Slide and Turn" option from Sunseeker Doors for our extension, but they also do a sliding version. We're also after the slimmest sightline, and aluminium is much better for this than uPVC.
They are doing our house too.

Just had a quote for 6m sliders (3 sections 2m per section) From express bifolds - £5,500 supply only. Thats a great price, but will go and see them in the factory before I order.

I've been very happy with mine. The quality is excellent. Their fitting charges were astronomical though so I got my builder to do it.

We have manufactured Smarts for the past 10 years and we fit a set every day and do not get problems with condensation and yes they have been weather tested to 2500mm high so someone is incorrect and seeing that they are now turning over in the region of £350 million worldwide they must've doing something right.

Hi Skilly1

Hello m8

I hope your all done with your project and its feet up with a cuppa time.

I was just wondering how you got on with the windows from Express. Did they meet your expectations?

Im about to do a big extension myself so would be glad for an update please.

Kind regards

Funny enough had them installed on the 6th Jan ! Ended up paying just under £8k for 6171mm x 2400mm, 3 section sliding doors. Door were £4820+VAT. Installation £1350+vat and 2 x nice handles £480 plus vat.
They installed in one day, did a great job and I am very happy - although I have not used them much yet as building work still going on, we are in no rush!
They did a site survey and that person was helpful and gave advice, on the phone they were very helpful and on the install day they stayed overnight locally and did the install in one day. Cleaned up afterwards and did a neat job. Can't fault them at the moment, I would recommend visiting the showroom for ideas and they give you a profile of the door frame for your builders to work to.

If you need any other info / pics let me know.

We've just gone with ID Systems on an 8 metre opening, they do a new system with 24mm vertical sight lines the cost uplift over their standard system with approx 80mm sight lines is around 20%.

I really liked IQ Glass based in Amersham, their showroom is well worth a visit, but I reluctantly ruled them out due to cost, the same with Fineline Glass.

Also worth considering Internorm lift and slide Ali clad timber, very impressive but fairly large sight lines on the sliding panels, showroom in Colindale.
Hi Tresco, how did you get with the ID systems doors? Im looking at their slide and turn doors for a 4200 wide space. 'Only 45mm sidelines (more than yours) but that's pretty good

We're using First Folding.

We have a Glass Door meeting Glass Roof detail.

I can't say they've been great to deal with.

First Folding - Cheapest
Max light - expensive
IQ Glass - Most expensive, but best product

Wish I'd of had some better options.
