Advertising on PH apart, FYI That is NOT the north west. Drive for about 7 hours north west and you'll reach it.

HTH wink

We had a portable air con machine up to last summer but it stopped working, this year we are using fans and they're just not the same it's currently 28 degrees in our bedroom

Next year we will look to put a multi split system in our room and my 2 boys rooms

I'd like to add my two pence here; I've bought this unit a few weeks ago and hooked it up to the window in the bedroom and proceeded to cool the bedroom:

There are several issue with this type of unit that has left me now wanted to get rid of the unit and go to the proper split units.
Firstly it is mounted on the floor, so it will cool the air close to the ground, but as you know hot air rises and is present at ceiling level so although the unit says the air temp is now 18 degrees, that is down at floor level, my own thermometer indicates that the room temp is higher further up the room.
Then the noise, it is not possible to have this unit running while sleeping, or with the tv on. Unless you put earplugs in. Sadly this unit incorporates two fans and a compressor all in one box, so noise is inevitable.
Then the exhaust of the unit must be ducted outdoors, through a window. The duct is not long enough to get to the top window which is usually small, so it must go through the bigger window in the room. I did buy the window seal kit that is available, but did not use it as it requires to be permanently stuck to the frame.

In short go for the split unit.

Anyone want to buy a reduced price trotec unit?
I can't sleep if I can hear a clock ticking, yet sleep fine with the a/c on. Also didn't worry about trying to seal the window - the temp at night is far lower outside so it doesn't seem to matter.

The thing I was miffed about is that even when it gets down to the set temp only the compressor and exhaust fan stops - so the noise level doesn't drop much.

Ours somehow sends out a horizontal jet of air from the top of the unit - it's like having a powerful fan, except the air is freezing cold.

My parents bought one a few years ago, used it for the hot period and then sent it back say it was to noisy and got their money back hehe
