Have you had the phone call about appliance for life yet?

The bloke trying to sell it to me was so set on the hard sell that in the end I had to tell him if he didn't give up I was going to call my credit card and cancel the transaction.
I found this call annoying as well and they were being deliberately misleading and tried to sign me up without saying the price of the insurance.

They were otherwise very good.
I can't remember what the costs was now, but when they called me it worked out that over the warranty period of the machine I'd pay more than the machine itself cost me. confused!!

Same here.

Needed a new fridge freezer. Currys were too vague about stock levels and delivery dates. John Lewis were too busy. So - despite reservations about ordering big things online, and despite wanting to use high street shops - I went to AO.com. Flawless online transaction, gave a delivery slot, driver phoned beforehand and gave a more exact time, delivered it and took away the old one, no problems whatsoever.

The insurance thing is irritating though. They should just let you buy it online or make one short, brief phone call. Instead you get the whole matey boy thing, did you see the football last night, what about this weather eh, blah blah...then the pantomime of needing to "check the delivery details", replaying the entire online transaction verbally (hint: the point of ordering online is that you don't have to talk to someone), then the whole War and Peace about insurance. I might have bought the insurance if they'd just got to the fking point quickly. As it is, I felt wound up by the whole thing.

I will use them again though.

Same issues with the insurance call - what's the point in ticking the "please do not contact me box"?

I had a washing machine from them delivered Sunday just gone. Excellent service and contact, great price plus they had good Quidco deal so more off there.

I did get insurance call but in my job you learn to switch off for a few minutes then say thanks very much for the information but I won't be taking it out and I'd prefer not to say why. They are just doing a job smile

I tired that, I didn't work. When he carried on with why I didn't want it, I said I don't have to explain myself to you, then sometime later we got to the give it up or the order gets cancelled line.

Not just me then. I've made several purchases with them (can't fault them on price, delivery & comms) but got really annoyed at the last one with the warranty BS - this is the kind of crap Comet used to pull. Complained in their feedback email and got a letter from the MD. It's not the employees's fault though.
