Garage floor paint?
Discussion
Hi all,
I need to paint the floor of an industrial unit, preferably in a hard wearing paint (grey colour if possible) and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for where I could buy the paint.
I'm going to need to paint around 1700sq feet so I don't really want to be buying 2 litre cans from Wickes at £20 a go!

Get a specialist contractor to do it. Painting a garage floor is hard enough to get right, painting an industrial unit for me is a job for experts.
Agree with this. We had a company come in and put a resin layer down, it was very quick and super hard wearing.Normal domestic garage floor plaint will flake up in no time when used in an industrial environment with forklifts, pallets trucks etc.
I use these guys. good quality paint, reasonable prices.

I would use the 2 pack paint though... Problem with single pack is it hardens by the evaporation of solvents, so it skins over and then remains soft underneath for weeks. this is where people complain that it lifts... they apply it too thick, which is easy to do on a floor, and then it never thoroughly hardens before they walk or worse park cars in there. It lifts off for ever and a day then!
If you use single pack, apply it with a roller and spread it out so that it "just" covers... don't try to aim for a shinny thick finish as this will cause problems with lifting.
even with the two pack (which dries both by the evaporation of solvents, but importantly it through hardens by a chemical reaction) apply it as thin as you dare... this greatly helps in the future with chipping and lifting.

Cheap option..

I would probably use this on my garage floor at home, or a similar trade version.
Expensive option..

You really need someone who nows what they are doing with the pegakote epoxy though. Far more suitable to high traffic areas, workshops etc.
