Hi,

My bathroom Is the old wash house and as such had an open fire in there, sadly this had to be removed to facilitate repairs to the wall behind. It was never replaced, we've been looking at old pics of the house but we have not of the inside of the bathroom.

Does anyone have a functional fire in their bathroom they wouldn't mind sharing a pic of?

I don't spend enough time on the crapper for it to be worth lighting a fire, but I do sometimes wish we had one in there. Due to the layout of the house, solid walls and a lack of accessible roof space (ie insulation) the bathroom gets very cold in winter. It would be pretty cool, but totally impractical.

If I had money to burn I would fit one of those wood burners that is actually run off gas.

I'd have to double check, but from memory, open flued gas appliances aren't allowed in bathrooms.

No need to check they are certainly not allowed, as for solid fuel or open fire i have no idea.

Thought it was the case, was unsure if it was just boilers or open flued appliances in general.

It's all about multifunctionality these days - may I suggest a fire pit?

Can't believe all these stately homes and manors that the people of pistonheads live in and not one with a bathroom fireplace.

If it's just pics you want, there are plenty of google images if you search for 'open fire bathroom'. Our old house had a chimney breast in the bathroom but there was no longer a fireplace.

I can't see it being an issue, as long as you don't want a gas/electric fire and you have the space to spare.

Well, blow me down. I was toying with the idea of inventing one of those as a come-on for office workers who linger on the thunder box when they should be working.

Or just a fun surprise thing for the ladies toilets anywhere.

Thanks for the ideas, especially links to google images lol. Anyway looks like having powerful external extractors are a no no with an open fire in the same room.
