We're moving soon (hopefully, don't want to jinx it!) and one of my plans is to make a pub in the back garden out of a summerhouse or shed.

I've always wanted my own pub, but don't fancy the hours and struggle that seems to go with it, so plan to make a mini pub in the garden for BBQs, mates round for football etc.

Won't store anything in it that's expensive (loads of booze etc) and it'll look plain from the outside but hopefully like a mini pub on the inside.

Anyone already done it?

I think it'd be cool, I'm not sure how big it would need to be though. I currently have an 8x6 (feet) shed with bikes in, and there's a summer house in Wickes of the same size, not sure it'd be big enough though?!

It wouldn't necessarily be for sitting in, more to have open for BBQs and things.

We've got one of theirs - a good quality product and easy to build.

There was a thread on here a while ago that was exactly this. Was really nice and worth a browse for.

I'm planning something similar eventually, but I have an ace 10m x 5m building already. I've just put a crap pool table in, but it's still really my workshop. Plan is to get a knackered slate pool table and steal the slate and the cushions and then build it into a work bench. Workshop at one end, comfy stuff at the other and setup for cinema and games etc. The idea is to make it properly multifunctional, with a lot of mezzanine storage and a winch to easily get stuff out of the way so it can stay fully clutter-free.

Realistically I'll be doing well if it's vaguely done by this time next year.

Good luck and make sure you put up a build thread.

Thanks, just googled and found it if it's the one by Laurasotherhalf? No finished pictures though!

Many people seemed to think it was chavvy, but I think it depends how you do it. I'd like one that's full of old tat and pub stuff and can be opened up when we get back on the bikes and chill outside with a beer and light the BBQ. The garage will be a a workshop for the bikes, so no room in there for a pub!

MIne will be far smaller than yours, certainly no room for a pool table!

Friend of mine has built two (he moved house). The first one was amazing, I would guess the size was about 6x12 ft (he had a space to fit into) and once you were inside with the door closed, it really was absolutely like being in the pub - ok, a micro-pub, but it really really worked. We had some great nights in there.

When he moved he left the building there, took most of the fixtures & fittings, and converted the back of a 40' long garage into the pub replacement. It contained lots of the elements of the first one, but…..it completely lacked the atmosphere of the original. It was/is a bit like being in a working man's club. Nothing against that, just trying to explain the difference. I can't put my finger on what, maybe the lighting, maybe too much light-coloured paint, I dunno.

Top & bottom: yes it can work and it can be great, you just have to get the recipe right and that seems to be the intangible bit!

Did you see that Amazing spaces programme where the side of a shed opened out to create a deck? You should do that and add a roll out canopy. That'll double your space and work really well.

I have a brewery in my 8x8 shed. I also have a 1970s bar on wheels. The brewing side takes up a lot of room so the. Are lives indoors at the moment.

My sister in law's boyfriend is Swiss. Him and his mates bought a trailer, turned it into a pub themselves and drive it from party to party

A photo of a photo but you get the gist. Holds about 15-20 people.
