Finished garage floor...still drying but not "wet". Some animal (probably the aforementioned cat) had decided to have a look at the concrete and thought better of it but it's only a teeny mark and will paint over.

"Who, me? No, you must be mistaken..."

Dunno to be honest! Drainage? Strength? Building regs? Even the walls are going to be insulated, albeit not to the levels of the house, but probably still better than our current house...

Man cave taking shape! I really like the bricks (specified by the planners) and it's going to look really good with the big blue brick base.

It seems that those integrated USB sockets have a continuous power draw.
Hmmm...by that I assume the USB ports are always on? That's a shame...I wonder if switched ones are available?
Yes, you can get switched ones which will stop the power being wasted through the transformer constantly being in action on these ones.

Trust you to lower the tone...although bizarrely there were two new cats there this evening! I hope all that brickwork does not become some feline territorial pissing contest!

Those bricks do look good. Think that may* have some influence over my garage build which is due to begin soon. Maybe the heavy insulation is within the build regs ~ my garage is to have insulated walls, roof and floor. Didn't ask for it that way though. Mine is to be semi subterranean.

  • May - yeah, for sure. I like. Don't worry, not like we live near each other.

One of my biggest pet hates is the lack of power sockets around the breakfast bar. Yesterday I was in a luxury 5 storey house in central London and there was no power in the kitchen island and bar at all.

Will reply to you networking, toys, audio etc in you other post.

Garage gaining altitude and house starting to go up too along with insulation. The garage is coventional blockwork, and the house is "thin joint" construction.

House starting to catch up with the garage!

Living room from the patio...

Kitchen/diner from the patio...

Garage awaiting lintels and trusses...

Utility room...comparison between the lightweight "thin joint" external wall and the traditional block internal wall...

First floor joists should be in next week!

I love the way every tradesman has a milk crate smile Why someone doesn't just buy 100000 of those things, put a swanky gadget name sticker on them like "tradestep 2000" & sell them to the likes of B&Q I do not know......then again every tradesman seems to already have one/two........

Are the inner and outer walls not tied together?
