So we have a concrete base for our garage car port - from recollection it's reasonably high grade concrete (no dust, doesn't chip, hard surface). Unfortunately it has a very slight dip in the middle (a couple of mm) which means it collects a puddle when it rains in the right direction.

So, I'd like to either raise the dip, or lower the edge to stop water collecting. The trouble is, what product will stick well enough to concrete to form a skim of at max only a couple of mm without cracking and flaking away? Or... how can I skim off a mm or two to let rain escape without forming cracks that will encourage water penetration and further erosion?

Drill all the way through it, make it a drainage point idea

or, carefully using a stihlsaw, run a small channel off to the side to drain off the slab.

Only needs to be a few mm deep/wide as long as the water 'rivers' down it

Self level would fill it, but it would look like you have self levelled the dip and have a 'puddle' in the middle of the car port!

As already mentioned a self leveling compound will fill the hole but it will look sh!te, does the pooling water actually cause any problems?

I wouldn't drill core or otherwise all you will end up doing is washing away the sub-base.

What about using self leveller and then painting over the whole lot?

You'll obviously need to find a paint solution that's up to being used outside.

If you're going to level off just the dip without doing the whole area, you'll need something that can go on really thin at the edges so it'll have to be resin based. Try Belzona or Watco for a suitable product.

I tried using a self levelling product on my garage floor recently. Maybe I did not put enough water in or something, but it seemed to set very fast and did not flow out and flatten as much as I had hoped? It now looks like a giant cowpat rofl- even after painting. Decided just to leave it and try to ignore it. At least it is right underneath where one of the cars parks, so do not see it all the time.
