Thanks for the Arlo info. The forums and advertising seemed to suggest my 800k upload speed could be an issue - but it appears from your comments it might work just fine. Is the motion sensing any good? Again reviews seem to suggest 5 seconds is usual?!

Most recent thinking is to go with hikvision pvr with poe cameras. As usual though, I'm having a problem getting any electricians to quote on putting power sockets in the loft. No one seems interested! The rest I can do.

motion sensing works fine in my experience, I have mine set to capture 10secs upon motion. You can adjust sensitivity distance and also the area of detection

I just press a button the phone app when I leave the house and switch it all on. geo-fencing is planned for the future apparently so you can register phones with it, and it will arm/disarm depending on where you (your phone) is

Thanks chaps. I like the look of the netgear stuff but I think batteries are a deal breaker, I want them hard wired I think with wireless connectivity. I noticed there were a few in Costco today by swann, any experience with these?
