I have wood floors and dogs. Miele every time. Dyson are hopeless.

We got an older version of this: http://www.miele.co.uk/domestic/vacuum-cleaners-17...

Very good on wood floors, tiles and carpet.

Probably hopelessly useless, but I want one of those robotic vacuum cleaners. To get a decent one, it's £££, and a risk at that that it'll be good not crap!

We have a Miele, not a Cat & Dog but I bought the Turbo head separately which is the main difference. Think ours is the Powerline C3, 1600W anyway.

Night & Day better than both Dysons we've had & even good old Henry who is now relegated to the office.

We have 2 cats, one is long haired & sheds A LOT! We also have 2 dogs, was 3 for a while & the 3rd shed like nothing else.

Another vote for Miele - robust cleaners that are easy to use, efficient and not too noisy.

Actually, we have a Miele which wasn't cheap and is pretty powerful on wood floors.

We got a Neato last week and my god does it find dirt, I mean we are pretty OCD but its make a mockery of the Miele!!

We go home to an utterly clean floor now as it just toddles out during the day and does it's job (after some tweaks).

Got personality too, quite stubborn in its own way.

Was just looking at the Neato XV Signature Pro and the iRobot Roomer 880. Not cheap though. Why did you buy the Neato, was the Miele left with room for improvement?

O/T and apologies to the OP - Went for the Neato BotVac 75 as its slightly newer and had scheduling etc.

Neato seemed to get the best reviews thanks to its laser scanning and its certainly getting quicker as it learns the house.

Its absolutely left the Miele for dead, as it can get into every nook and cranny you might miss on a daily basis. I think its to do with the fact it brushes and hoovers so you get a really deep clean effect.

Actually they are not bad. We got an Aldi one for £120 (the nerd in me always wanted one but the Roombas seemed awfully expensive on a whim) and it works pretty well at keeping the majority of cat hairs (we have 4 mogs eek) down to a minimum.

You have to make sure the floors are clear (no wires for it to get caught on etc.) but it just pootles around brushing up kitty hair and dust for an hour and a half then goes back to its charging station. You can program it to do its thing at specific times too but we just press the button on the top when we feel like it. Needs to be on hard floors/lino though as it is useless on carpet. The cats are not spooked by it either and will just move out the way if it comes close. A very cool thing for the price I paid I think. smile

The Neato is really good on carpet - the carpets we do have look new after its been over it!

Over the years I've had 2 x Dysons, a bagless Hoover and a 2 X Mieles. The Mieles have been great. The first one was a 2.2Kw which has only just died after 8 years of heavy abuse. I bought a 1600W C3 Powerline from Currys today (the most powerful the EU now allow). It was only £160 which I think is a great deal as I walked past a row of Dysons priced at £200-£300 on the way out. That should see me through to 2023.

Another "Dysons are rubbish, Miele Cat and Dog are great" person here. I can't believe the money I wasted on a Dyson.

"Dysons are rubbish, Sebos are great" here. Albeit not a pet specific one, I have been very pleased with a Sebo I bought as a Miele alternative about 9 years ago (as Miele didn't do an upright at the time). Also have a Miele non-upright which is great and love their washing machines and tumblers. Good quality stuff that pays back the upfront cost.

(I had two Dysons fail on me prior to seeing the light)

Easily. Miele Cat and Dog user here. It does a much better job.
