Scenario: Empty un-furnished property with un-metered water mains.

According to Thames Water's website, the property is not liable for any water service charges and they will close the account upon notification.

Question: Will this mean that Thames Water will subsequently turn off the water supply as well?

I don't know about Thames Water, but United Utilies don't bother.

They say they will but usually dont bother. Here in leeds they did once come out and turn supply off at the road and scrawled OFF in blue paint over the cover. When i was re letting i simply just opened it up again.

Appreciate the replies.

Follow-up question: Do you know if they will charge to close the account or re-activate once the property is inhabited?

I've never experienced it. It's normally just a phone call with the new tenants details and a meter reading & that's it.
