Halfway through another week and at this point I was hoping to post up a picture of the bath end of the bathroom done. All was going well until I was cutting the insulation for the third wall. I cut the first one right down the middle so had 2 60cm pieces but needed two 50cm pieces. Not the end of the world as the next part was ready to take 60cm.
Out with another roll and cut my first 50cms and then marked for my cross cut for the vaulted part. Put my bar down to guide my cut, picked my knife up and sliced the insulation, but was not concentrating so the edge of my finger was in the path of the knife. The day before I had put in a nice shiny sharp blade so made short work of cutting through the insulation and taking a 1cm strip off my finger too!

With other hand cupped under so as not to bleed all over my exposed wooden floor I walked to the house and called cargeekswife down off the ladder to come and bandage it up. Appointment was made at the docs and half an hour later I was sat there having it bandaged up. We were then sent up to the pharmacy to collect a tetanus jab and then go back to be stabbed in the arm. I now have to keep my finger dry for 48 hours. Hopefully next week will be event free and we can make up some of the time lost this week. On the plus side though, cargeekswife has finished painting the metal work outside even with me disrupting it.

Finger is now ok so Monday we headed out as I needed some plumbing supplies so tagged along on the shopping trip. As we were heading into Saintes we got stuck in a little congestion which was unusual. As we were trundling along at about 20 miles an hour we had an English plated Chevy Blazer joining from a junction. Cargeekswife left plenty of room for him to pull in but he decided he would try his luck further up so she closed the gap. Unsuccessful at this he then tried to merge into us and had to concede. He did not take kindly to this and started honking his horn to which he got the bird. Now angry he came charging up the inside on the hard shoulder and braked in front of us nearly taking out the Astra ahead of us. He then reversed back, got out of his car walked over to my wife and slapped her in the face. Turns out he wasn’t English but French. I got out of the car and he wandered round the car and punched me in the face knocking my glasses off and leaving me half blind (don’t have very good vision without the correction) then went back to his car and sped off.

We called the Police who came out to see us at the plumbers merchant and told us we had to go to the hospital first to get looked at and a piece of paper from them before we headed to the police station to report it. So spent 2 hours waiting around A&E to be seen to collect the pieces of paper. Off we then go to the Police station for another 2 hours reporting it. It was hard work to get them to understand what and where until they found someone that could get the footage off the dash cam onto a computer. This made it go a whole lot smoother and once finished we headed home as it was almost time to collect Millie from school, so no shopping actually took place.

Footage is here if anyone wants to see angry little French man in his illegal car. You can just see him throw the punch at me but thanks to being weighed down in the front seat by a handbag I didn’t get out quick enough to be in shot.

Tuesday was a much more usual day as I have got all the walls done around the bath and tested that it fits snuggly. Next up was some plumbing so I can finish off one of the ensuites and put the bedroom side wall on. The last thing I now have to do is get the table that the sink will sit on sorted so I have the correct height for my waste pipe. Hopefully that will be tomorrow mornings job along with the last bit of framing in bedroom 4.

Hope the police catch up with the goon and treat him accordingly. All the best to you and your misses.
On a happier note, I really enjoy reading about your progress.

Thanks guys. We came out ok. Was a little shocked at the behaviour but that's life. The Police did find him and went to arrest him, but in their words they said "it went badly" with no further embellishment so who knows what is happenning. The video we put up has now been viewed 200,000 times and we received a message from someone telling us the town he lived in and a very blurry picture of his car. The funny thing is I have received 50 plus friends requests on Facebook! There are some right weirdos out there.

Work has continued un-interrupted now. Cargeekswife has finished the table so I now have the height for my wastes and have drilled the hole in the wall. The 90 degree bends will be purchased tomorrow so that can be finalised.

The bathroom that I have been working on now needs 2 boards and 1 ceiling section done to complete. The wall section will have to wait as I need another table building that is going to sit in the corner. Which in turn means the ceiling has to wait as the wall needs to be in place first.

We have now arranged for the drive to be done next week which means no more muddy boots going between the 2 buildings. Also the new front door is due so the place should look halfway decent for the Sunday Service next weekend.

Only a few bits of progress inside. We have put up a couple more plasterboard sheets in bedroom 2 and the hallway and another piece in bedroom 4.

I have cleared the plasterboard off of the floor in the 3rd bedroom and can now open the door and see from one end of the building to the other.

The major thing this week has been sorting out the outside. I have emptied the barrel that we had plants in out the front. Must have been about a ton of dirt and stone in there judging by how low the Ranger is now sitting. This is in readiness of moving it to make a little roundabout in our driveway when finished.

We had to clear up the drive from and stones sticking up to far and then lay the geotex down. These are the before and after pics.

Yesterday we had the delivery of calcaire and gravel that is to be spread around. The calcaire will be done this afternoon as it is due to rain and then hopefully they will do the gravel and build the walls by Friday.

Back field has been cut so by Saturday we should be all set for our Sunday Service. I had to replae one of the mandrels as it had broken in 2 places and a new blade that had bent. Cuts so much better.

Sorry about the rubbish pic but the red bits denote entrances. For parking in the field it is the two at either end. It is slightly bumpy but don't think it will pull any sumps off! The entrance on the right hand side is hidden until you are preactically on it due to the long grass.

The main entrance should at least have a layer of calcaire, but hopefully gravel and walls. We shall see. Look forward to seeing you all from about half 10 onwards.

This covers the borders. Ignore the squiggle on the right, it follows the road that is there.

Outdoor week is progressing nicely. Today we had our old front door replaced. Gone is the draughty old piece of wood that allowed the wind and the rain in to have this in its place that just lets light in instead.
Rubbish has been taken to the tip to clear the decks a little more.

The driveway is taking shape. We now have the part between the house and the barn done and have plonked our barrel/roundabout in the middle. Tomorrows job will be emptying the stone and earth back in to it and planting up our olive tree.

I have started to dry out the bread oven too for the Sunday Service. If it does turn out to be a wet day we have our hangar to sit under and the stove will be there for cooking and should be a decent amount of drive to park on if the field is too damp.

It is my wife who thinks I am a car geek. She registered under that name. No abductions were carried out or previous marriage harmed in the choosing of it. If you were confused by it other were to so they will be glad you asked and sorry for confusion.
