Fire risks prompt tumble dryer recall.
Discussion
I filled out the online form. Got offered an appointment to come and repair, or a new one for £59. They will come and remove the old one and fit the new one for that price. They say that they absolutely must take the old one away (presumably to stop me selling it on eBay)
Ours was 7 years old so £59 for a new one with no hassle seemed okay for me. The new one is circa £199 in the shops.

I had the same, but as of this morning it's tripping the RCD on the feeding circuit every time the heating function starts. So hotpoint are coming out next week to fix the problem and whatever they need to do for the fire risk. Wouldn't mind so much but the drier is only 11 months old.
Suspect the element has blown hence the trips so hopefully two fixes in one.

Seriously mate don't take this lightly, you may think I'm being OTT but having recently gone through the trauma of a tumble dryer fire I would not want to wish it on anyone, horrendous. We have been in a hotel for one month, major restoration work and ours was not a big fire, but the effect and impact is massive on me and my family. Suspect the element has blown hence the trips so hopefully two fixes in one.
Take a real interest in all your electrical appliances, google safety and recalls and do NOT fall into the category of people who don't think it will happen to them.

I got a call on Friday from the 'Indisit / Hotpoint recall centre' saying they are going to offer me a like for like brand new replacement. I just need to verify the serial number / model number of the unit (which I didn't have on me at the time) they are calling me back tomorrow to sort this. Does seem a bit odd as I remember filling it out on the online form when registered that mine was in the recall group.
Did anyone else have this call?
Well, they didn't call me back so I called them. They are now denying the last call ever happened and have assured me that I will be having an engineer visit IN JUNE, yes, 6 months time. (once they have trained up more tumble dryer engineers) Shocking customer service and they now know exactly how I feel about their company. Did anyone else have this call?

Is one's belly button fluff similarly at risk..?
Two protruding bellies + a stolen kiss on carpet made of Nylon = static spark...and whoosh! marshalla said:
Just had a call to check model & serial. They've promised a replacement, FoC.
And the replacement is due on Friday.FWIW, ours was just under 2 years old when I filled in the recall form, and we'd had a letter/email to say that they'd extended the parts warranty for an extra year as well.

thanks for posting regarding this, our is also effected about 2.5 ish years old.
Just out if interest does anyone know is it a standard offer of fix for free or £59 for a new whirlpool condenser dryer?
Ours was one with a hose out the back (not a condenser one) so can't comment. However, they would fix it FOC or new model for £59. I suspect they have a formula which calculates price you have to pay dependant on how old your existing dryer is. What happens if our houses burn down considering we have contacted them & they haven't followed up; surely they'd be screwed. (Considering it's their item that is faulty).
Your insurers would pay. It's up to them if they then pursued Whirlpool but as you knew you were using a faulty machine... I doubt they are liable.
