Reported around 8 weeks ago. No call. No letter.

Appalling.

To be honest once we reported our dryer on their website, we didn't hear anything for ages and then received a phone call to arrange delivery of a new machine.

I imagine they've been inundated with customers reporting their machines and they're playing catch up.

Hang on in there!!

redcard That Sir is a washing machine and not, I repeat not, a tumble drier and it certainly did not catch fire, so ner! Though it does go to show that afflicted machines might be OK in use as long as only bricks are dried in said appliances.

I contacted them what feels like eternity ago, and have been told my machine will be repaired by the end of Feb, or I can have a 'B' rated machine for £99 (mine is 'A' rated), but maybe the ratings have changed in the past few years? I think the machine was bought in 2011...

Dammit, sir, I thought I'd slip that through unnoticed. I am undone...hehe

Those of you who contacted hotpoint and have subsequently had either the machine repaired or replaced, did you ring or email initially? I stuck the details of my less than 6 month old tumble drier into the webpage they set up. I had the email back stating it was one included in the recall, but nothing since. I reported it on 24th November, so have heard nothing else other than the confirmation email for over 2 months now.

I submitted it on the webpage and had the initial email on 25th Nov.

Cheers for the reply. So other than the automated reply, have you had any further correspondence or action?

I put the claim in Novemember too.

Just had an e mail last Monday to say the repair will be February or for £99 can have a new condensor dryer.

As ours is almost 10 years old now I've treated the wife !

Plus I'm getting more paranoid and won't have it on unless I'm in the house in the next room. It has had a couple of issues with the element getting wet and shorting the electrics and a new pump fitted 18 months ago. Said pump got blocked with wet fluff and so wouldn't pump. I cleaned it all out and it's not tripped the electrics since.

So it was! I'm rubbish at noticing who replies when I'm reading a thread!

Received an email today

This was first reported back in November.

Your repair status

Due to high demand it is currently estimated that we will be able to complete the modifications to your tumble dryer in April.

We will be in contact with you in due course to arrange the repair visit from our engineer.
You need take no further action if this is your preferred option.
Alternatively

Replacement of non condensing dryer £59 delivery, fitted and disposal of old unit. Cheapest online price I've found is £220 for same machine.

If your dryer is over 1 year old and you would prefer not to wait until April for your repair; as a goodwill gesture, we are able to offer a brand new Hotpoint tumble dryer at a reduced price. For the reduced price, we will deliver, install, remove your existing appliance and replace it with a new dryer.

You have to "Click here for estimated repair date" it then shows you the option to get a replacement for 99.00

Unless yours is less than a year old.

I just got mine and got a replacement.

ah yes thanks - I hadn't done that. It does indeed give a choice of two; either a condenser dryer for £99 or just vented dryer for £59:

Thanks PH - without this thread I'd have never known, bought one in October 2015 and it is affected. No wonder it was so cheap, they knew they were going to have to recall the stock any second laugh
