This may sound a little Dr Who but its been freaking my girlfriend out for weeks and I have no clue what is causing it!

At night we have a reflection created against a wall facing our patio door. This looks just like any other area until you open the back door and we get what looks like tiny shadows all moving around like something in a lab test.

At first I thought it may be heat escaping and creating the distortion (its like you see when you look over a fire) but after an hour its still happening.

There are no vents anywhere near it, no pipes and its the ground floor with nobody under us.

Any ideas?

Is it caused by a light source - could there be bugs around or inside the source?

Stand in front of it or put your arm out and see if you can trace the shadow backwards to indicate the source.

Any problems with your TV?

Whatever you do, don't look into the light.

Turned off all the TVs etc and it still happens. I took this pic of the main light sources at the rear of the building which come from a compressor factory

Whats also intresting is

1) The road between the house and the factory is the main route for 25+ very heavy works trucks who are removing waste created by new a major pipe project to replace Glasgows sewage system

2) The property is built on a site which previously exploded due to a gas leak

I'm not really getting what you're seeing, but I'll bet it's something to do with your cane fance, its movement, and light.

We put a sheet over that and its still happening, I'm beginning to think the alien theory may be right!

Well from that photo it's quite obviously the trees between the factory/light source and your house.

It's will stop change as soon on as it's spring and the trees have leaves on.

Led's may also be causing a flickering effect which may highlight it.
