That's cheating, we all want to see months of blood, sweat, injuries and disputes with builders!

I have to say, the builders were utterly fantastic. Given the tight timescales and how smoothly it's all gone, I have literally been worrying just waiting for something to go wrong! But it hasn't and I'm delighted. A first class service from start to finish. Given the work we've done which has been extensive, including carpets and bathroom fitting (and sanitaryware) I'm chuffed that we'll have done the lot on just a tiny smidge over £15k so far.

That's a complete strip down of the older part of the house back to its skeleton, celotex & rockwool insulation, plasterboard, skim, decorating, carpets, tiles, bathroom furniture.

Just carpet for hall, landing, stairs and small spare bedroom now to order and for me to finish lighting and electrical.

The following were taken pre-carpets and boxes coming in. Will post some more 'finished' shots tomorrow.

Downstairs Front Room (will be boys playroom in due course - our living room for now):

OP

For £15k that's remarkable and it looks great too.

Think you need and deserve a good rest now + some beers to the old man for helping out + weekend away with the Mrs for her putting up with a building site

That's an impressive turnaround for the time and money. Job well done! smile

Also like the look of the bike. Am just beginning to dip my toe into the two-wheeled territory too.

I am enjoying being back on 2 wheels. Last time I had a bike was 2002 so it's taking a while to re-learn but I'm getting there. Commute is 25-30 mins each way which is good for 24 miles and yesterday the traffic on the A1 north from Hatfield was savage due to an accident but I still got home at 6.15. Perfect.

Two weeks after move and house is starting to feel like home. Finally finished off the electrics barring a couple of plug sockets. Now just waiting on carpets for stairs and landing and tiling for the hall downstairs but we can't afford the latter right now so it's going to have to wait. Otherwise, we're broadly finished part a and shall enjoy a few months of mortgage and rent free living before starting part B which shall be the addition of an ensuite bathroom in the room next to the bedroom and the great big extension.

Coming along very well and at quite some speed. Makes me depressed at our lack of progression.

Looking forward to all the high quality pics of the finished rooms!

The lighting also looks well through out, did you get all the fittings from ebay? biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Did you use a local electrician? We need someone to do a rewire on our new place so it would be good to get a recommendation.

PM me your number and email address mate and I will put you in touch. I've known the spark we used for years as a customer and he's great.

Not sure how I missed this! Great thread and good to hear you're in already. Seems like great value for the work done so far.

I need some bits soon so will be in touch but without hijacking, are the ZEP1 adjustables more?

Z1 Adjustables are marginally more than the fixed but currently not available pending introduction of an all new model in the next couple of months.

Thanks Guy, you answered my question despite my typo as I was trying to ask if they were available any more, so thank you.

Look forward to seeing the new stuff but thinking I might go for some dark lights now.

Also, what blue is that as it looks really nice?

What fittings are the LEDs in the hallway ceiling?

We traditionally have loads of photographs on the wall going up the stairs but because the ceiling pitches in slightly at the top, I can't get fixed down lights in the correct point to light that wall so above the bannister rail (thus about 1M off the wall itself) I have 2 x ZEP6 Adjustables with Dark Light finish to catch that part of the wall then all the others are the simple ZEP6 Dark Light which are tiny at only a 54mm overall diameter bezel and the light aperture just 20mm. Both are running 7W and 2700k. Fittings in the downstairs hall and front room are ZEP1 Dark Lights in the same power/colour temp.

Blue colour is Dulux "Lunar Landscape 1"
Landing etc is Dulux "Dove Slate"

woohoo

Having submitted a pre-planning advice application in December and had the meeting on January, of late I have been getting the right hump with S Cambs DC that we still didn't have an answer so following a call to the Cheif Execs office on Monday threatening solicitors action having paid for a service not received I got a call from the planners to say they would be supporting our scheme subject to the formal application process. Just awaiting the official email confirmation as such and we can immediately submit for stage 2.

Now to find a mortgage to actually pay for it.
