A common mistake with lawns is to mow too short. During mid summer especially, the grass will appreciate having a bit of extra length to give better drought resistance and to help it compete with weeds. You're doing the right thing mowing at a generous length.

If I wasnt feeling cr4p Id mow my lawn today! Quite mild and looks like it needs a trim, just in time for Christmas!

Must be nearly time to start the 2017 lawn thread!

As a look back for me we bought our house at the end of 2015 and 2016 was a sort the lawn out year. Newish ground for me be turned a moss and weed fest into a pretty respectable lawn after lots of effort , scarification, probably too much seeding, mowing, more patching, over zealous spot weed treatment etc. Dissapointed to see so much moss re-appear, but some of the lawn is quite shady so I guess its to be expected.
