Hi, I'm trying to get hold of a rubber o-ring for an AEG dishwasher but all of the parts places want £4! Yes £4 for an o-ring and I need four of them. Here is a link to the part.

Does anyone know of a generic o-ring supplier that could supply something equivalent?

If you give them the size, or take one along with you, and tell them what it’s for. Most people like this will have something suitable.
I would recommend actually visiting these places rather than just phone calls etc... They tend to hand them over FOC within reason - as long as you put money into their charity box…

Depends on if it is a special size O ring or not.

If it's a standard one then just buy a selection box and use some from that. Lidl have them out cheap on Monday in metric & imperial sizes.

If it's a fat O ring you might find Farnell or RS or an online supplier can sort you out if you know the dimensions.

£4 for an O ring..
Well... they have to buy stuff, stock it, store it ( for God knows how long )..... on the off chance someone will buy it.
Run a website, employ staff, rent, rates, electricity, gas, water, national insurance, pensions etc etc

It costs... what it costs... because of all of the above...

But... I bet you would happily fork out £2.50 for a coffee that costs £0.01 in raw materials.

And if you are self employed... the prospect of margin means you either put food on the table.... or lose your house..

I can get my wine a st load cheaper from buying direct from the vineyard.
Most of the time... I buy it from a retailer though.

£16 isn't so much... smile
