Anyone got any tips where to buy? Ideally online or from showroom (Lancs)

Went to Bensons today and like their No 3 firmness (middle of the road) but got home and looked at online reviews and read some horror stories.

Budget is maybe £800-£1000 for a super king.

Use the search button and type in 'new mattress' there's loads of info there.

I was all set to buy a mattress/new bed from Dreams - however, have now decided to get Hypnos mattress that is used in the premier inns and other hotels.

Hot topic in our household at present.
One thing in Bensons favour is the exchange option.
For this reason we went with them.
Tried what we thought was a very good bed, a Staples.
Neither of us was that impressed so have opted to exchange.
Gone with a Tempur.
For us it was worth having the option.
Beds and fking pillows...rolleyes

Bensons, Harveys and Sleepmasters are part of Steinhof International, a giant South African corporate interested only in its share price. It certainly isn't interested in you.

I hope you're bloody right! smile

The reviews I've read are playing a big part in my choice.
Got to say, it did feel rather nice in the shop...but so did the other one I bought.

There are some on here that will tell you these mattresses are 'too hot'. There's a simple answer to that : if you're 'too hot' you need a lower tog rated duvet and/or a lower bedroom temperature.

What, you mean like it says on their website?
One is only likely to see that when doing their homework on a relatively expensive product...unless they're a tad thick.

I've seen very strongly expressed opinions about them being 'too hot' here, on Pistonheads, when the common sense solution to that 'problem' is what I said above.

We did a lot of research before we bought our mattress & we're very happy with it smile

Not a million miles from you if you wanted to visit but we did it all by 'phone / online (they call when you place an online order anyway).

John Ryan: http://www.factory-beds-direct.co.uk/ . Their basic premise is they aim to emulate various levels of Vi-Spring mattress / bed for around half the V-Spring discounted price.

very happy with our "artisan bespoke' from John Ryan. They have a quibble free return policy which we didn't use but nice to know it is there.

Another +ve from me - bought one of their super kings zip&link mattresses a few years ago. It's been great, getting a decent mattress protector & topper really extends their life.

Zip&link was key me us as my wife is only about 50-60% my weight, so we ended up with soft/firm mattresses, I think I'd drown on a soft smile
