This place had loads of refurbished eve mattresses (returns that have been recovered by eve I think) the last time I visited:

I bought two Tempur single mattresses to fit our double bed back in 2001 and they're still going strong. Sheer bliss every time I get in.
Yes yes....but what about the mattress?
That explains his username

I'm in the market for a new bed and the John Ryan site has certainly been an eye-opener to the crud the industry spreads about (and I must admit to experiencing the very fatigue and frustration they allude to when trawling through endless 'SALE NOW ON - MUST END SOON!" and "up to50% OFF IN-STORE NOW!" crap).

As a bigger fellow I'm going to up my original budget (substantially) and look at their Resilience mattresses; I have a few questions I'm planning to ask them prior to purchase but the one thing I'm stuck on is bed frames. I'll be going up to a king from a double and I know what I'm NOT looking for, however I'm struggling to find the right thing. I need space under the bed for storing large items (dead hookers, suitcases full of drugs and cash) so divan is out as is anything with drawers or a slatted/open headboard.

Can anyone recommend a 'John Ryan' style no-bullst site for frames?
Ottoman bed?

Need one my self and this caught my eye

Er, the fact that there are so many 'returns' on offer at charity stores and the like suggests there just might be something troubling about particular makes? Someone should compile a list of the failures. And I'm not volunteering.

That's not bad, although £650 for a king; I did subsequently spot JR do their own ottomans but they're a few quid more (£740 for a king).

I'll keep looking...

We've used Litvinoff and Fawcett before - a friend recommended them,so we bought a pine frame 17 years ago and it's been taken apart and put back together a couple of times due to moves. Still good and solid. They do oak frames too.

Also you can ask them to modify their standard frames - we had a "Lorraine" frame but wanted it to be a bit higher so they made it with the legs 3 inches longer than standard.

Thread resurrection whats your thought on the mattresses after living with them for 6months +. I am trying to decide between a JR Origins Pocket 1500 or a The Simba Hybrid?

We’ve had a John Ryan Artisan 1500 for about 6 months now, bought untested on the strength of many reviews here and elsewhere. It’s incredible - comfiest bed I’ve ever slept on, and I’ve slept in lots of swanky hotels over the years (and probably more not at all swanky ones!). Given their 60 night guarantee it’s well worth the risk.

14 months on with a super king-size Simba and I'm still very happy. I found it a little warm initially and use an Outlast mattress topper, which is great. But it's comfy and I've no regrets about buying one at all. Simba actually replaced the first one as it had a mysterious lump in it, but they did this without fuss and on the appointed day.

Have you actually layed on a memory foam mattress to see if you like the feel of them as they are quite different to the usual type. I had an Ergoflex memory foam type & while I seemed to sleep on it quite well I didn't like the "dead" feeling as there is no reaction or bounce back. You lie in a hollow & turning over or getting out of bed means you have to climb out of the dip. I sent it back after the 30 night trial period & went for a latex topped mattress from Latexsense:

https://www.latexsense.co.uk/

I've found it to be very good. They do lots of different types & have a 105 day trial period as well.
