I have inherited a rather nice crystal glass chandelier of a modern design. It is in lovel condition and will suit our lounge, therefore I already installed. The downside is the crystals are needing a good clean, short of removing each individual piece of glass can anybody recommend a good spray-on cleaner or alternative.? Thanks

My brother used to do this, travelling all over the world.

Dismantle and soap and water.

We have a couple of modern crystal lights. I make up a fairy liquid solution and spray liberally onto the light, putting a large tray and towels down to catch the runoff. Then I spray with cheap supermarket own brand glass cleaner, makes a huge difference. Only thing is you need to do this regularly from new. If you've got baked on dirt it's a case of hand cleaning.

Thanks guy's for the laugh and the serious advise. The Del Boy sketch has to be one of his funniest ever.

How large is it and how is it attached?

My parents ones are effectively hooked to the ceiling. Just un hook them and but the whole in a bucket of soapy water. Leave to soak if necesseary, a few plungers up and down and come out all shiny.

Each crystal is individually hung in sets of two. In old money it's about 18"" across and 18" drop in four circular groups. TBH removing each crystal would be a mare of a job, but thanks for contribution.

We have one of similar size.

We've been avoiding this job, but I really don't think there's an alternative....so will be putting aside a day one weekend to sort it.

Ours has been up 4yrs so I guess spread over that period it's not much work...still not looking forward to it smile

Just to round off the thread I used a glass cleaning trigger spray product as earlier suggested. Soaked the glass and let it drip dry. And now it's far cleaner but will have to set aside some hours for laborious household cleaning duties

We used to clean them this way 30 years ago with a special spray, smelt like brake cleaner/contact cleaner to me.

I don't have any chandeliers, but I have seen them cleaned using HG chandelier cleaner - which was a solvent which was sprayed on and left to drip and then dry.
