Was planning to do mine this weekend, but read in the paint instructions that the floor should be at least 10*C, which means an air temperature of around 15*C. It's about 2*C here so I've had to put it off for a little while!

That was for the two part stuff, but could that be part of your problem, that it's just too cold?

it always helps to be that little bit warmer but the OP`s problem was he did not seal properly to start with.

Now you mention that I checked the tin and it says 10c also... bugger.

Will still PVA though.

I have painted a couple of garage floors in the past and never had a problem tbh. I think this one is because the slab is quite old and just turning to powder.

Took a trip out to B&Q yesterday and came away £150 lighter (Henry and Ronseal concrete sealer).

Put a coat of seal down this afternoon after a good going over with the vac. Will see how it stands up to the yard brush tomorrow but if it does then I will start painting (again!)

Took a few pics so will post up once its done.

Seems to have done the trick. Bushed the old stuff off as much as possible then gave it a full vac out.
Used Ronseal garage floor sealer - paint went on much better after that.
Gave it 2 coats, second coat just drying when I took the pic.

Just need to get under the shelves etc sorted, will do that when I get time!

Yeah wifey was not happy with me using the one out of the house so had to make a trip to Currys.

Kind of ran out of time but wanted to paint the walls too - a job for another weekend!

After all that effort, did you actually paint round the shelving units?

Yes after the disaster of the first attempt I ran out of time to move everything off the shelves and unscrew them off the walls.

I will get a small roller that will reach under and get them boxed off at the weekend - 5 min job.

What floor paint did you use after using the Ronseal concrete sealer?

PVA isn't good enough to seal a concrete surface, as it mainly sits on top and doesn't penetrate enough. Concrete sealer is a different beast and sets harder.
