Further to the above, I purchased privately a couple of plates and have the relevant V778s.

I have put one on my car as per the above link, which was really easy - but I have nothing in my name to prove I own them. How do i get the v778 put in my name ?

Thanks

Once the new numbers are on the V5c the V778 is redundant (if I have understood you correctly). From now on they 'belong' to the Registered Keeper of the car.

I say 'belong' as the combination of letters and digits is graciously loaned to us plebs (for a consideration) by the powers-that-be who can grab it back if they feel like it.

Ok thanks, that means I haven't failed to do anything.

One registration is on a v5c in my name, one I still only have the v778. Presumably I should put that on a car to make it "mine"
